Posted June 8, 20178 yr Hopefully Rob will see this, If you do Rob, do you have any information on the vocalist on "The way you've been acting lately"? Thanks
June 8, 20178 yr I have a lot of Al Kent records, and on that cut the vocalist doesn't sound like him. We talked about this on Soulful Detroit, and came to the conclusion that Al Kent produced the instrumentals, and probably the vocal recording of "The Way You've Been Acting Lately" but that the singer is not him. I'll be curious to find out who it is. He didn't sound exactly like any Detroit singer I could recognise.
June 9, 20178 yr Al Kent said it was him, he didn't have the budget tompay a vocalist. Its in an earlier article and other topics which Rob wrote or replied too.
June 9, 20178 yr OK Chalky thanks. Only heard about the doubt on a recent podcast. I had never come across this before.
June 9, 20178 yr I wonder why he sounded so different from his normal voice. Maybe, like Mary Wells on "Bye, Bye Baby", he was hoarse from several takes?
June 9, 20178 yr There you go then. I wonder if the podcast DJ was getting confused with "You've got to pay the price", which in the early days was known as Al Kent, but is, as we know it is Dennis Coffey.
Hopefully Rob will see this,
