Was this show undervalued for its ability to get the soul stars some great exposure?

One of my favourites..

Ideally the show would have started a few years earlier (to have caught soul's golden years) but it was great for 70's groups & singers (O'Jays, Dells, Dramatics & many more).

There were loads of great local (& some national) music shows before it BUT unfortunately (unlike Soul Train) most of that footage has been lost as it wasn't deemed worthy of retention at the time).

I guess like most uk members my experience of Soul Train was from clips aired on TOTP and other pop shows but from everyone I’ve ever met or heard from the states talk about Soul train it was a massive part of their childhood and def not undervalued on a personal level. And how cool was Don Cornelius !
