I'm not a huge collector of early 70's 45's, therefore anything I do keep has to be of a high standard. With this in mind, I have all 5 of the known Tomorrow's Promise 45's, these were released on Capitol and Mercury, 1973 to 1975. There's not much to split them so I am of the opinion most collectors would need all 5. However, for a group on 2 major labels, there's a surprising lack of information about them on the net. Does anyone on here have any knowledge about them, including where they were from and were they just vocalists or were they backing musicians as well? Did any of the members record other material too, and where are they now?

Thanks, Martin

Like the earlier Baltimore group, the Persians, this outfit worked with Phi-Mar Productions (as did Michael Lizzmore plus a bit earlier T.J. (Timmie) Williams & Two Shades of Soul). Guess Phi-Mar had connections to Baltimore in some way (probably via a radio DJ from the city).  I believe Phi-Mar were New York based (which would make sense in T.J.Williams case).

Both James Sawyer & Lee Pittman have a number of songs they wrote registered with BMI.

Thanks for that. It was very interesting to read his background which would explain the high quality of each of the singles.

Just moving this one up the listings again as I feel there should be someone out there with more to offer on this wonderful group who had just 5 releases it would appear, all of which are great. Even if you can't help, please enjoy all 10 of their tracks as posted in the links. Thanks
