Hello Soul Source, I would appreciate any value guidance on a VG copy of Jimmy Spencer - Worth the the trip on Jay-Tone  JT-821.

The disc plays well with the usual pop clicks of a VG 45.

Thanks in advance,

D.

Thank you so much for the sound files - and really liking both sides, but in particular the 'Worth The Trip' cut.. And obviously John Tee under a pseudonym for whatever reason - which I think is

Hi @Yourbiggestfan

Thanks for posting, as I wasn't aware of this track on the label - in fact I've only seen three releases on the label and, as this isn't one of them, I apologise for not being able to assist in answering your question..

But was wondering if you are able to post sound clips of both sides at all please ?? As I can't seem to locate them anywhere and would love to learn how this sounds

Appreciate any assistance, and hope you manage to find a value.. It's certainly an obscure and difficult 45 to find

Hi FF, thanks for the response. I think this was picked up in Ohio about 10 years back, I did see a cracked copy go through ebay earlier in the year but that's about it.

Most of our vinyl collection has been sold over a period of years but this and a few others (nothing significant) were left over.

Anyway here's your sound files 🙂

And obviously John Tee under a pseudonym for whatever reason - which I think is a bit bizarre given it's his own label.. The strange world of record collecting lol

If you are looking to sell, and at a price I would be happy with, I would definitely be interested..

Regardless, I REALLY appreciate you giving us the opportunity to both see and hear this 45 - and part of what makes this site the wonderful fountain of knowledge that it is.. always something new to find out 👍

I'd always thought it was this Jimmy Spencer https://www.jimmyspencer-nightspen.com/allaboutjimmy.htm but your probably right about it being JT.

No worries on the sound files, it's a pleasure 🙂

I wanted to sell this 45 so feel free, to make an offer, we're in Leicester and used to trade on here as okehdokeh for a few years previously so hopefully someone can confirm we are legit and won't rip you off as a fly in seller.

As a gesture 15% of the sale will be donated to Soul-Source if that's ok with Mike??

Thanks,

D.

I have to admit there are many similarities in the the voices of both Jimmy Spencer & John Tee - and that would answer my query as to why John Tee would record under an alias on his own label.. That said, the clips of Jimmy I can find are all from recordings released in the 2000's so difficult to make a direct comparison to the John Tee releases on Jay-Tone.. And on the surface I can't find any references that would connect the two

I think a bit more digging around is in order.. It would be more than uncanny, I think, if both these guys voices and styles are not one and the same person, but that's not to say they could, actually, be different artists entirely..

Damn !! I NEED to know more !! lol

I'll pm you to discuss a potential purchase..
