A NORTHERN soul enthusiast has described his elation at a ‘once in a lifetime’ opportunity to perform at a national celebration.

Alex Morrison, of Barrow, will be in the national eye when he puts on his dancing shoes as part of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Pageant.

The Pageant will combine street arts, theatre, music, circus, carnival and costume to ‘celebrate Her Majesty’s unwavering duty, love of the natural world and dedication to the Commonwealth.’

He will be one of 15 dancers on the flatbed trailer when the Pageant takes place on Sunday, June 5.

THE PAGEANT

ACT 2: THE TIME OF OUR LIVES

‘The Time of Our Lives’ is a vibrant display of British life since 1952, moving through a transformation of popular culture over the last 70 years.

With a cast of thousands, each decade is brought to life through the popular music and dance styles, fashion, youth culture and classic vehicles of the times. Double-decker buses, wrapped in specially designed and custom-made graphics, remind spectators of the most memorable and world-shaping moments from the last seventy years. The Pageant will take audiences from post-war 1950s Britain with Lambeth Walkers and jivers, to the 1970s with northern soulies and glam rockers, all the way to the 1990s with acid ravers and Britpop power. Crossing into the new millennia, ‘The Time of our Lives’ will reflect the technological advances which have changed and impacted modern Britain over the last two decades.
