Other designs: c.1951 - 1958 - dark blue label with CHESS (and chess piece) logo on top. 1958 - c.1962 - dark blue label with CHESS printed vertically down the side. c.1963 - 1966 - black label with coloured CHESS logo (and chess piece) on top. 1966 - mid-70s - sky blue blending to white, with CHESS in red lettering at top. Hope this helps. Edited February 27, 200718 yr by Gene-R
February 27, 200718 yr Hi, how many different designs are there of the U.S.A label? one confuses me its the one with two curved arrows in yellow and orange is it a west coast design or maybe Canadian regards mobbsy Wasn't that the early 70s design? And used for a series of reissues?
February 27, 200718 yr Try www.bsnpubs.com which looks like it gives full details of the labels for the issued LP's over the years.
February 27, 200718 yr Wasn't that the early 70s design? And used for a series of reissues? No - they were genuine West Coast issues which coincided with the Chicago releases. Most, if not all, have correct Delta matrices defining month/year of release. Some Northern 45s were pressed in both formats, including 'The Tingle' by Jackie Weaver (believed to be 1961) and 'A Whole New Plan' by Jo Ann Garrett (1966). Never seen a Valentinos on a West Coast issue.............now that would be rather nice to look at.
February 27, 200718 yr thank for that Gene No probs mate. Actually, it's more likely that "The Tingle" would have also come out on a dark blue label with CHESS printed down the left side (rather than a black label), given that sources point to it being a '61 release.
