November 4, 20231 yr back in 2018 i did a piece on Philharmonics ( New Orleans, Isaac Bolden, etc). i have a few notes from then... Marty was ( i believe ) a construction worker who won a talent comp about 1955/56. Coincidentally, Kenny Guidry and The Clouds of Joy were runners up.I don't know if the 'Joy biit' has anythng to do with Oliver Joy. @Michael Bailey Edited November 4, 20231 yr by Kenb

November 4, 20231 yr You are correct- Marty recorded for Flame but never owned the label. I did find this 45 mentioned in Cashbox which is not listed on Discogs -
