Posted April 5, 200718 yr With the current thread running about FW and the previous one about the most expensive 12 inch single, any details of the most expensive soul album?
April 5, 200718 yr Would not know if this is the most expensive LP, but clearly remember around 20 years ago, a chap had come across an unusual LP titled Elvis and Juanita, apparently it was a South African release showing Elvis and a black Woman dancing on the front cover, it was not in photo picture style, but in those cartoon type drawn images you see alot of, as at the time it was incorrect for Black folk to be shown on covers etc, any way turns out it was only the second copy ever to turn up and went for over 2K, story had it, he came across it at boot sale, cost him a £1
April 5, 200718 yr The Elvis LP was titled "Janis and Elvis" and was a 10" lp released in South Africa in 1958 and withdrawn the day after issue. Originally issued to attempt to recover Janis' royalties, it was released on a Friday & by Saturday afternoon, Colonel Tom had somehow gotten word and called RCA and made Them pull it because 1 - NOBODY performs with Elvis and 2 - It was called 'Janis and Elvis' & not 'Elvis and Janis'!
