Not sure what the album notes state about Julius Brockington, his music career & the various groups he was in BUT in a number of places on the net it is stated ... NOT MUCH IS KNOWN ABOUT JULIUS BROCKINGTON.

Not sure that is correct as he got quite a bit of coverage in Baltimore where he based himself. He played a few instruments in school but decided to concentrate on keyboards. He got into the music biz as a professional player in the late 1960's. He soon established a decent profile & was signed to a record contract. His first LP release was as the Brockingtons (Today Recs in 72). Next came the 'Sophisticated Funk' album (as Julius Brockington; Today 72) & then the 'United Chair" LP in 73 (Today again). 45's were lifted from his albums. Next he teamed with locals back in Balto for his 45 on Burman (cut in the local Bradleys Studio) -- "This Feeling" (73). This 45 sold well enough locally to get a 2nd release in 74. Again the single did OK & it got noticed overseas. As a result Creole Recs put it out in the UK (Aug 75). By then Julius had moved on & was cutting for Arista as a member of Larry Young's Fuel group. Larry was a jazz artist who'd already been on the recording scene for 15+ years.

When that outfit had disintegrated, Julius returned to Balto. He was still involved with secular music but also started to get into gospel. He was soon linked to a local church & cutting (as the Julius Brockington Ensemble) with the female choir members from the Manna Bible Baptist Church. Gospel LP's & 45's escaped and by the early 80's, the ensemble were signed with Cheri Records. Their 'Prayer Light' album (Cheri - 1982) goes for a tidy sum. A 45 was also put out by Cheri. He kept the ensemble going down the years & by 1997 it was reported that they were due to release their 6th LP.
