I don't know if this has been discussed here already, but I just found out that ebay is changing feedback so that only buyers can leave neutral or negatives (sellers can only leave positives for buyers or no feedback at all). This is to counter the fact that feedback is pretty much pointless now due to retaliatory feedback. Also, they're going to make only the feedback for the last 12 months count toward your score. I'm now excited to see some ultra-shady sellers feedback from from 99% to 50% -- one example would be seller treazureisland1

It certainly won't be clear who the decent buyers are though. People can now bid on my auctions then refuse to pay or do dodgy chargebacks etc and I can't even neg them...so what's to stop them doing it again and again to different sellers??

On the plus side, ebay have just told me I qualify for a 25% reduction in my fees, which is great seeing as it was only a few months ago that they doubled them

Sellers (like myself) - dont waste time, if you disagree with the new feedback ruling, sign the petition on the Community page now. I have, and so have about 2,400 others!

I almost exclusively buy and consistently deal with shady sellers so I'm in favor of it. Does negative feedback to buyers really help you that much as a seller? You might see someone after the bidding is over that you're suspicious about, I guess. I don't think it helps that much though.

I think this will result in a lot of people stopping accepting paypal. I haven't decided why yet. Hmm, I should have thought this through first

I don't think that's an accurate analogy (for many reasons). Plus, given that feedback is pretty much pointless now since almost no one will leave negatives due to retaliatory feedback (which is the whole motivation for the change), your analogy would be like "if you government decides to withdraw the vote from half the population given the vote means absolutely nothing right now." I have dealt with some very bad sellers that have had 100% feedback. It's true that some sellers will now get unfair negatives when they shouldn't, but overall the entire meaning of feedback will change -- no one will have 100% but it will be apparent who the really bad people are by how low the real percentage is. In fact, currently much negative feedback to decent sellers comes from unstable people who are just crazy and might be unwarranted now -- more warranted negatives will balance those out more.

I shall appeal to the court of Human Rights claiming abuse and complete violation of my rights. After all, if convicted murderers waiting for deportation can use the same excuse and win their appeal, there's still hope for me.......
