Mike This will probably be that the sender has their bank account linked to PayPal rather than a card.... this means payments are by "eCheque" and take "upto" 10 days as PayPal claim the money from that person's bank.... bit like the time it takes for withdrawals from PayPal to reach your account.... it will show as "cleared" when completed and then can be used, drawn, etc.....
