March 24, 200916 yr Bit obscure but looking for the above record, decent price paid p.s. UK release 1964 Do you know Lulu's version, mate? Decca EP only. Great EP actually, all four tracks were 'EP only' originally, I think... Original is by Merry Clayton, of course. TONE (PS - Can't help you with Elkie, sorry. Only have it on US Parrot demo, and don't want to part with it, either!)
March 24, 200916 yr Author Do you know Lulu's version, mate? Decca EP only. Great EP actually, all four tracks were 'EP only' originally, I think... Original is by Merry Clayton, of course. TONE (PS - Can't help you with Elkie, sorry. Only have it on US Parrot demo, and don't want to part with it, either!) No never heard any version apart from this one Tone. I shall be seeking out lots of records like this in the forthcoming weeks, Decca, Parlophone, Columbia, Polydor - I love hunting down obscure UK versions of things.
March 25, 200916 yr Got a UK Decca of Elkie doing her fab version of 'Hello stranger', if you need it Pete?
March 25, 200916 yr Lulu's version shades it on the UK states, Merry Clayton's definately the best, great beat ballad. Tends to be collected by 'girl group' collectors for the other side (Usher Boy).
March 25, 200916 yr Author Got a UK Decca of Elkie doing her fab version of 'Hello stranger', if you need it Pete? I do like that Dave but would only need it if it was a demo. Sad isn't it.
March 26, 200916 yr I do like that Dave but would only need it if it was a demo. Sad isn't it. Understand completely...complete empathy in fact
