Finale Song @ Skegness Ns Weekender
Yes Steve...he's from the States originally of course....but he's the Geno..that was working the Clubs, Wheel, Flamingo etc etc from way back...did a real good show actually and probably shows his experience of working with British crowds for so long......nice to see a 'tradesman' like him in action. Not sure how many of the original Ram Jam Band he had with him....but either way they gave a 'tight' performance.....nice rhythmn and bluesy backing

Finale Song @ Skegness Ns Weekender
...must mention quietly doing what he has done for nearly 50yrs in this country in clubs up and down the country...Geno Washington..gave a sterling performance...we must have nearly all have seen him bitd...but was fantastic to see him 'working it' again on 2013

Emidisc
Right, fair play on that...I underestimated the popularity of 'em in mid to late 70's.....was just thinking of circa 1970/71. So in effect there could be suitcases full of 'top tunes' lying around in people's attics

Emidisc
Spot on Steve. It was the trickle of emidiscs back then that fueled a search for 'those types of sounds' amongst many...in the days beforf CD's and any quality cassette tapes. I say 'trickle' because I would be very suprised if there bucketloads ever done. More often just a few done of 'in vogue' tunes at the time. Be interesting to know how many are still in existence. Who has actually kept em because of, as you say. they are historical and can be very personal to folk when thinking back to the early years and their 'journey' First ones to come out circa 69/70..late wheel ??????.......Reckon Brian Phillips on here would know......

Unknown Floorfillier

Wigan Blue Plaque
https://music.telasource.netdna-cdn.com/monthly_02_2008/post-9046-1203269074_thumb.jpg ..I suspect it will be down to individuals to take this on themselves ...similar to the Torch plaque.....councils seem oblivious of popular culture and reluctant to fund anything that isn't universally known....

1972..a Live Recording From The Torch
..Yeah I agree chaps...the quality is excellent...not sure if cassette recorders back then were compatible to 'hook up' with the in house sound systems. Maybe there is some 'software' out there that can 'eradicate background noise ?? If it was placed on the stage...am sure there would deffo have been some background noise.....if only... 'HEY YOU !! get ya thieving mitts of me fookin cassette recorder' lol Agree with Gilly ..they were a rarity back then (along with cameras),,plus the batteries didn't last long....he/she musta kept it pretty well out of sight..woulda been a prime target to get 'rolled' The big Hi tech item of the day was the 'discatron'
