  1. I think at this time the Northern soul scene is at a junction in the Uk. Lots of people out there wanting a good night and many willing to travel ect. Trouble is sometimes its the same old same old and a break is sometimes what's needed, as a dj having people come up and say its the best night ever and then never seeing them again is some thing we should all be aware of and never take things for granted. I have had soul do's on for many years and at times got dishearten due to poor turn outs etc, but you have to believe in yourself and what your doing as they will come back and it's up to me and the likes to make sure they enjoy the evening or night. Anyone who has been to my do's know me it's not about money it's about the music I love and to get fed up from time to time is ok in my book. But don't sell your records as you will end up paying 3 times the price to get them back. I shouldn't say this as I'm buying all the time off fed up people only to see the collecting months after. It's in the blood and always will be, get a grip and get off your arse down to the next one or if you fancy a change come and see The Casino Allstars another spin on Northern Soul www.casinoallstars.co.uk enough said Paul Kidd from the heart.

  4. sorted now mate but some one was asking me how much did I pay because they want one. Do you want their contact number on SS.?
  5. When I put this post up I was hoping for one and just like the 192 to Manchester they all turned up together, although I have still to get Tony Galla which is not a done deal yet so still a want. So this weeks treat has turned out to be somewhat more expensive than I would have imagined, Northern Soul has these moments and they have to be taken. If the wife kills me next week you'll know why lol.PK
  6. Some items removed as they have been sold, not after top end prices but don't want to give them away either so please no ridiculous bids. Many thanks to the winners of records sold and to those mulling over itching nearer to what would be fair to both parties. Cheers Paul Kidd
  7. Think I have one sorted already cheers Russ.

  12. Hi Rod, I finally got the tickets on Thursday night but the flyers are not ready till Wednesday, probably best I bring them together and then plug to everyone that the tickets can be bought from your place amongst others thus they will buy a few tunes from you at the same time. I would have been in to see you but have started a major building project 2.5 weeks ago and I'm totally bollocked out ha ha. I am at a point now where I can take it easy so will get down this coming week. Cheers again Rod and see you soon.

I was after this for a few years and kept missing it bought it not long back at £175 If I'm not mistaken, a bargain by any means in my book. Lots of records go for a lot more and make me laugh, this just takes you back in a second or two into the tune.
  14. I'm hoping to have some posters for this Friday coming so wil be down to see you mate.
  15. Cheers Rod I will drop a poster of next week been waiting on the tickets now for a fortnight and hope to have them soon. What's the best day to come as I was thinking Friday.
  16. I know that mate You, Ged and Grant are on the list.
  17. Great times we all had back then mate, Cottons was great for breaking in new tunes. Cheers Paul
  18. I Know I can count on you mate to do a spot along with all our other A list DJ's.
  19. Just an Idea This is something I've been contemplating on setting up for a while now and think it might be a good idea to spread out throughout the UK soul clubs. This year to my knowledge in Stockport soul mates Budgie and Sammy Sutton have passed away and I'm sure others that I can't bring to mind. They like most of my friends on here loved Northern Soul and supported most events over the years. As far as I know this has never been done anywhere in the country which is shocking seeing as we go on about being a big soul family. So here goes let's make it a first for Stockport and may it spread across the UK. **************** My intentions are to have a night for all those members of our family' who have passed away all the monies raised on the door or donations will go to a charity. All the DJ's will come from Stockport and will give their time for free, The Moor Suite and has kindly been offered to us free by Bernard Greaves my good mate the room holds 200 people and will be a ticket only event, tickets costing £6 for this first event which will be on Friday the 22nd of November 2013. A large pin board will be placed at each side of the Stage for you to put Photos on of you and your love ones / mates who have passed to make sure they are there on the night. This year's money £1200 + will be split between the Charities of both Budgie and Sam's family by cheque and you will all know the amount raised either on the night or a few days later. ****************** I will be taking names plus payments for tickets at the Soul on the Edge Soul night at The Festival Hall in Alderley Edge on the 28th of September, let's make this not just a night to remember but also a night to remember them. Just think how much money we could all raise for charities in the name of Northern Soul, Please pass this message on. Looking forward to November the 22nd. Thank You Paul Kidd.

DJing for many years and lots of cock ups along the way but this one sticks in my mind. I was DJing with a mate of mine Frank Swindles and after about an hour I kept hearing the odd hissing sound, this became more often and we were worried the decks were about to blow as we had tried everything, messing about with the amp settings then the volume and changing needles etc much to the annoyance of the crowd. It turned out to be a tart sat at the table next to the decks who had the loudest lisp you could imagine, we never stopped laughing all night after that.
  21. I think we have a call for a Sunday Afternoon Mid Tempo Northern Soul event, easy on the ear and even to people who have never listened to northern soul would love it. Just a thought. BBTBBB (bring back the big beat ballads)
  22. The place was run by my mate Martin Christie who had previously run The Belle Vue (nighter's/dayers). I don't think I missed one as I remember it was quite up market with lights on every table which were set back around the dance floor. Every other week it was an Irish club. I also remember buying a Frankie & Johnny British demo off Richard for £22, he wanted £35 but after seeing me begging all my mates to lend me cash till I got home he let me have it. The Stockport soul crew always turned up, cafe on the left as you went in then steps down to the oval dance floor, dj booth on the right and any dj worth having played his set there. I still see Martin from time to time and we talk about these and the Belle Vue nights as if they were yesterday.

Got a mint yellow Okeh - Marie Knight but would need a good offer to let go. Cheers Pk
  24. So sad to hear that Keith, I will try and put together a wants list for you and hopefully sort something out. Cheers PK
  25. There is a John St John on eBay now with three days left, that's if you don't mind waiting years for one to pop up for sale by which time god knows what it will be going for. As for it being not worth £1000 I would agree but its not far from that, if some of the crap that sells for more than that is anything to go off. This tune will stand up with the best at any Soul Night that's why it's a must have for any decent DJ who loves playing Wigan Classic tunes. Paul Kidd
