  1. yep..thats my copy..
  2. i always thought ( maybe incorrectly) that your connection with Ian Levine irritated RW..my imagination?
  3. DST..another great tune hammered at Wigan ( tho most seem to despise it now) TD Valentine, Bobby Jason, Carmel strings..great memories..
  4. ive heard of things getting nasty when SS appeared at various clubs..Mecca/Wigan etc..by buyers who'd never received 45's..he obviously had a lot of front..
  5. its on one of the lists you posted..priced at an incredible £35..does it exist? bear any connection to the Exciters song?
  6. if i had it on Mp3 i would gladly send..as i say it goes back to early 74..Dave Raistrick and I listened to it over & over trying to dechiper songs..if you never played Footsee at Wigan i believe you..one day i'll transfer all my live tapes..
  7. Rick, any chance you could post the remaining lists...mine disappeared years ago..
  8. a very good question...and when you think of the 'heavies' involved within the music scene its a wonder he was never 'whacked'...
  9. hmmn..interesting..i have a tape from one of my early visits to the casino..circa May or June 1974..where KR plays 'Footsee' i might add that he also plays 'Takin it away' The Free, and Ila Vann 'You made me this way'..as Spock would say...'fascinating'
  10. also on the Hi LP..and a rare South African 1960's 45 (probably the rarest format)
  11. wow ..what a list!!..I wonder if the Sherry's ended up with Russ W..also wondering if many of these listed SS actually discovered? no doubt some were already big tunes..great stuff..how did SS circulate these lists?
  12. agree..i have it also..but never heard it out..
  13. not so sure they were all legit...i bought a copy of the Jades via his postal address in Daly City..supposedly original, $35 on REE..which i sent him via an international money order,he also listed Danny Monday also a boot i believe, plus others of the time..probably just before Ian D went to the US as he put me onto him...
  14. whilst your comments are very true..SS did not invent or start the bootlegging of records on the northern soul scene. And though i agree with your sentiments ( thief) he certainly was not isolated during this prolific period. In fact i would challenge anyone to name a person of note or influence on the scene who did not in some way contribute to the deception and therefore cheating those entitled to royalties or similar. This is in no way a defence of SS, i guess he was the most prolific but he couldn't have done it alone. With the gift of hindsight i find it a fascinating part of the history of northern soul....( an exception being Dave Godin)
  15. I'm surprised SS appeared to get away with unofficially pressing so many titles. Surely in some cases the technicians at Monarch would have been suspicious, would he supply the actual disc to be copied or a tape of said disc..wonder what line he used to spin? Illegal but completely fascinating...has anyone dared to suggest a list of which songs he was involved with?
  16. I'll tell you hat is annoying, Lisa Tarbuck...nuff said
  17. would love to know the full story/technical aspect...i assume SS had some access to the original recordings in order to remove/separate vocals..i also think strings were added? by whom? same as his Mirwood additions?..and where is SS now?...if he did have access to the original tapes..might explain why it never was booted like his other stuff, VM was a big name and SS probably decided against further exploitation..

  20. HA Ha...nice one..i honestly dont think mine are rare...but will dig em out later...
  21. i can remember this track first coming to my attention sometime in the early 80's on an Ace (i think) compilation LP, probably before it was played on the northern scene?..however as such it stands to reason it was ripe for reissue..and imo the 45 in question looks like a reissue..
  22. curious to know what rare/rarest northern soul has been pressed on coloured vinyl? i only have a few Bobby Patterson, Bobby Taylor, my rarest is prob Pat Powdrill 'Together forever' WLP/red vinyl...whats yours inc pics please...
