You think they are brave - I think they're not. You think this man has tried to re-assure everyone that the production will be as real as possible to the era - I think he's done nothing of the sort. But does that matter? I think not. You think this film will entice new blood onto the scene - well, you could well be right. Won't we have fun when they turn up to their first 'proper' soul do expecting to hear Duffy and Paul Weller! You say you don't get it why people are so negative about this film? I don't think people are being negative Phyllis - people are passionate that's all. Some a lot more than others it seems. I couldn't give a toss what the story is about to be honest. The only thing I care about is whether they use the ORIGINAL RECORDINGS by the ORIGINAL ARTISTS. Something I thought everyone would care about. Boy was I wrong on that one.

You can't seriously think they are going to take notice of anything we have to say? These people couldn't give a spin or a backdrop about what we think! I don't think its negativity Ted. People are passionate that's all. Some more so than others it would seem, but surely that doesn't surprise you? As for the people behind the film regretting getting involved with this site? Behave! They couldn't give a flying fig what people on here think! And they sure as hell ain't going to listen to a word any of us have to say. All publicity is good publicity to them - and as far as they are concerned - it's a job well done with this site!

Easy with the sarcasm. But to do this would mean using the original recordings by the original artists would it not? To the best of my knowledge people weren't dancing to Paul Weller and Duffy records at Wigan Casino in 1974. And they certainly aren't dancing to them on the soul scene today.

I'm guilty of this one Jane! My thinking is if the unthinkable ever happened - it would be my word against whoever's. This way it could be proven one way or the other - with minimal damage to the record. To the naked eye anyway!

I'd agree with you there Jordi. Don't you think some records are just too soulful for their own good - this being a prime example.

I knew Steve Kennedy very well. He was from Nuneaton - and yes, he did have some mighty fine tunes! My old copy of the Volumes on Twirl had M. Dobson S-O-T scratched into the run out. I kid you not!

I was thinking more along the lines of just using the original recordings. The thought of cover versions by artists so soul less I doubt they've got sole's on the bottom of their feet just makes me want to vomit. Duffy singing Alice Clarke's 'You Hit Me' ? Amy Winehouse singing Rose Batiste's 'Hit & Run' ? Paul Weller singing Eddie Parker's 'I'm Gone' ? Come on people - it may only be a film - but please!
