  1. Yeah... who did win? Also... did Liam really tell us all to lighten up? As if anybody could take this seriously
  2. I don't think a week has gone by in the last year when there hasn't been a Clara Hardy for sale on Ebay. Yet it still manages to fetch upwards of $200 a time...? One of those you either love or you hate... not quite love... but I have to say I do like it.
  3. So you didn't laugh then? If she's 'brave enough to dance her own style in front of several hundred northern soul fans'... then a few old fogeys laughing at her efforts won't bother her in the slightest. Although to say she was 'dancing' is being more than a little kind. No doubt I look as bad as that every Friday and Saturday night... but without the blonde hair... or the camera.
  4. I've always wondered this myself Chalky. If they have to have them at all... wouldn't one 'up'... one 'mid'... and one 'in between' tempo record be more of a judge of who can dance and can not? My reckoning is that a good dancer should be able to dance to any tempo record... and not just the 100mph stuff. Although whether this lot can even dance to that is a matter of opinion. Can you imagine Goldilocks trying to dance to the likes of Buddy Smith or the Magnetics 'Count the Days'...
  5. Always a favourite line for me is from Shirley Whal's - 'That's How Long' - King 'Tell the DJs they've got nothing to say... until they have no more records to play' Also the last line of Chuck Holiday - 'Just Can't Trust Nobody' - Gloria 'That low down dirty dog just stole my woman' but more recently... Parliaments - My Rainy Day - Cabell 'I have stripped the pride.. of many a young girl.. yeah' ..... LOVE IT!
  6. First played out by my my good friend Andy Whitmore... more years ago than I care to remember... has to be coming up to 20 years or so I would say. I agree though... awesome tune...
  7. I voted for the later start. Can't help thinking if niters went back to being just that... all niters... there would be room for others to get a look in.... instead of some people trying to have the lot.

Played 'Rollin Rollin' out last Friday actually... BOTH SIDES ARE GREAT
  9. The record I most associate with Stafford... and Guy H... is Susan Rewis on Columbia... They Say You Found a New Baby... the old Denita James & the Wildside cover up... This record WAS Stafford for me.... loved it!
  10. You are spot on there Baz. I never went to Wigan... too young of course ... started going to niters just around the time it closed. Stafford... and all the ones mentioned above... were the best days ever for me... ... and looking back now... how spoilt were we music wise?
  11. Not hard to get... I sold two copies for £60 each... Big Dee Irwin on vocals... that's if my memory serves me correctly.
  12. ABSOLUTELY!! Can't believe it only went for £409! Mick H has got one too... well at least he did have. GREAT TUNE... BOTH SIDES
  13. What do I know anyway... You boys knock yourselves out
  14. You have a point sir... hadn't really considered the licensing hours. Then again... with all nighters that used to start around midnight now starting as early as 8pm... I would imagine your smaller, early do's will have had to do something like that to stand a chance of competing against the said larger venues? I know I'm probably in the minority who thinks this... but if all nighters were to go back to starting at midnight... wouldn't that give the promoters of your local soul night a better chance of success?
  15. Soul night's had much more of a chance of doing well when all nighters were exactly that... all nighters. And by that I mean when they used to start at midnight. These days... by starting earlier... 8pm or whatever... all nighter's are now both soul nite and niter... a bit unfair imo. No doubt some will say it's just business... and that all they are doing is offering a service to punters... and that punters are free to go to other early do's if they so wish. But how many people are willing... or able... to pay to get into two venues when they can just pay the once? Like I said... it's all a business now... and as with all business's... the small get pushed out. Call me an old fuddy duddy if you wish... but this is one example of when it definitely was better in the good old days... when soul music wasn't looked on as 'business'
  16. You may well be mad... but not as mad as Amlwch! You will have fun... I promise

I have no idea... because there was a picture of a nice gold record earlier!
  18. Heard this from Steve Greene... and got one off Ebay for $10... Shouldn't be too hard to get hold of fella!
  19. What's the matter... no one wish you happy birthday? Hate to piss on your chips... but CIS was far from rammed... maybe somewhere else shafted both of you!
  20. You know I'm with you on that one fella... just fantastic!!
  21. I think this is a cracking tune! Have played it out on many occaision... and the other side is fab too. Have posted both sides up in the Northern Soul Week Part 1 [build Up To Xmas] thread in media so you can have a listen.
  22. Took me all of two minutes to work out that lot... Well... maybe a couple of seconds to type it into Genius 2000
