  1. I'm not being funny......but for a scene that says we welcome newcomers - no matter how they happen to stumble upon us - we're not doing a very good job here, are we? You are most welcome Nasty Angel.

  9. Just had a message from Jacqui Bicknell telling me that Mark was admitted into hospital yesterday. Aparantly his foot is broken and he is waiting to have a cat scan to assess the damage to his cartilidge and tendons. Then he may need to have an operation. Whatever the outcome of the scan it's still gonna be a long time before he'll be able to walk on it again and he's climbing the walls already!! And he's only been in a day!! I'm sure a few 'GET WELL' messages from all his friends on here will help to cheer him up a bit and let him know we're thinking of him. So i'll start the ball rolling... Here's hoping you feel a bit better soon fella and will be in to see you in the next day or so. Thinking about you loads ..... and so glad i'm not one of your nurses!! Loads of Love, Joan xxx If anybody wants to go and visit him i know he'd be glad to see you ..... not sure of actual visiting times but he's in .... WARD 2 TAMESIDE HOSPITAL Ashton Under Lyne.

  18. Hey Daz, Bloody hell..... fancy meeting you here!! Hope you are well .... and Jo? Loads, Joan
  19. Hi Pete, I think both of these are fantastic records!! Have played both Bonnie Brisker 'So much lovin' and Versatones 'Broken Heart' out quite a lot over the past couple of years. You're right though when you say they just don't seem to be able to hit their 'full' potential. Could be they're a bit too fast - Bonnie Brisker especially - for the scene as it is today. You don't hear so many 'proper' stormin records being played as you used to. like the Combinations - 'What you gonna do' or the C.O.D's - 'She's Fire'. Phew ....... Talk about sorting the men out from the boys!!..... Ok, it might have something to do with those two records being as rare as something that's really rare, but there are other records every bit as fast.... So where's all this new YOUNG blood that i keep reading about ......? HOW ABOUT SEEING SOME OF IT ON THE DANCE FLOOR GIVING IT BIG LICKS TO RECORDS LIKE THESE!!
  20. Probably won't qualify for the list as i only think it was on twice, still worth a mention though. (apologies if someone's already mentioned it.) But does anyone remember an all niter Guy Hennigan put on at the RAZZMATAZZ CLUB in Brierly Hill ? The venue was absolutely tiny and there were mirrors everywhere! I think everyone must've banged into at least one before realising!! And if you were able to have a dance without falling off the dance floor ..... YOU WERE A GOD! Northern soul in the 80's - absolutely fantastic!!
  21. I did know it was also on this label. Can't remember who it was that had a copy on this in early 80's. Could it have been Adam? Not too sure. Anyway, was always told it was shit rare on Top Level ....... ( Sorry Mace!!)
  22. Every record that gets played, no matter who's playing it, will be 'new' to some and all 'ready known' to others. I wonder what the artists who recorded these records would think about someone saying you can't play that because someone else played it once 30 years ago? Cos somehow i don't think they made their records exclusively for certain people. Surely they were made for as many people as possible to get enjoyment from. So what if someone played a record 30 years ago. They ain't playing it now. You are. Of course there are exceptions, as with everything. There are certain records that will always be attributed to a certain DJ. And rightly so. And in that case i don't agree with other people to start playing it too. It's just simple respect. But if that DJ is no longer around or not DJing any more - does that mean no one else can play that record? I would like to think there aren't too many out there, stuck that far up their own arses, to think like that. You stick with it girl !!
  23. AND WILL IT BE CALLED......... 'THE BIG DADDY HOUSE'?
