2 New Hit and Run 45 Releases - Feb 2025
Here we go with 2 new releases - just in from the plant and Quality Control completed. No price increase on the vinyl or the postage (despite twice a year Royal Mail increases) £15 each + £3 UK postage (good for 1-3 records) HR 1560 HERMON HITSON : A - Walking In The Park B1 - Love Slipped Through My Fingers B2 - Why Not Me Our A side is an edited version, minus the bluesy guitar, which sharpens it up for the dance floor. Pretty elusive on the 1976 US Lisa label, last sold on Discogs almost 4 years ago now. Our B side firstly contains the CD only and never on vinyl unreleased cut of the Sam Williams classic - plenty comment out there as their respective merits ..... plus a BONUS TRACK - a copy of this sold last week on a carver for £200 and was described as 'simply one of the best Northern soul crossover dancers of all time'. According to Soul Source, an acetate was sold in 2011 for £1,500; our master was dubbed from an original Johnny Brantley acetate, but not that acetate... and carefully remastered. ' Those that have heard this out will testify to this being one of his greatest records, his killer soulful vocals, great guitar work, a legendary crossover masterpiece. 'So much better than the released version by Freddie Terrell, which in itself is pretty great. This is phenomenal'. Comments taken from soul platforms, not mine. HR 1561 THE JADES : A - Lucky Fellow . B1 - And Now / B2 - So Proud I Found You New Orleans male vocal trio, also recorded as The Enticers; US release on Mode seems to have now hit £1,000 - helped I'm sure by the big in-demand West Coast Lowrider flip 'And Now'; added here is a bonus track from the New Orleans Scram label, previously unreleased other than a 1997 compilation CD. Still at £15 each + £3 UK postage (good for 1-3 records); please paypal as friends to - hitandrunsoul45@gmail.com I've a feeling the promos will be popular on these two, so if interested please PM me to check availability.. JMAuction - 08/03/2023 - Results!
Yep, as the finder of those said copies in the old Malaco warehouse, it brought a chuckle to me then and still does as to why whoever else wouldn't have taken more if not all copies. I got to know those Malaco guys pretty well back then and gave them 3 times their asking price to their bemusement; that holds me in good staid with them to this day. Just across town in James Bennett's, why would someone take a handful of Earl White Jr's and not the whole box ....

Yes, those were the ones. I met Henry Martins who came to my hotel and then on a later trip met his daughter Abike Martins.. I was scheduled to meet Angela Davis but she was unwell at the time so that didn't happen.

My understanding is that this is the case - somewhere on SS there is a thread on how it came to be that 300 were pressed, specifically for the UK market - that story was confirmed to me by Henry Martins when I met him several years ago in Dearborn. It's a great record - in fact it's getting a UK release in a few weeks .....- Sharon McMahan - Where There Is Love - acetate
Does anyone know who is the current custodian of the original Ollie McLaughlin acetate, please. Reply by pm if preferred. Thank you.- Willie and West- Attica Massacre

HIT and RUN - 2 new 45 releases View full article- Pre-order sales ?
Hi Andy - yes, 50 demos- Pre-order sales ?
As most folks now know, the lead times for new vinyl manufacture is getting ridiculous. Hit and Run are presently working on 20 weeks from start to finish tho' that does vary from week to week. For that reason, it is now impossible to give an actual release date so far in advance and for that reason alone I won't take advance orders or even send out promo mp3s so frar in advance or, as Dean says, by the time the vinyl is actually released the pre-plays have faded somewhat. I suspect cashflow is at the heart of this; with the delay of 20 weeks, if you're trying to schedule a release a month it means you need to have 5 releases in the queue at the plant (HR currently have EIGHT in line) in order to achieve continuity- that's a lot of royalty advances, MCPS, mastering costs, pressing costs. Some of the recent labels possibly wouldn't want to make that commitment. If you have enough confidence in your release to actually release it, then believe it will actually sell when it gets released - I don't quite get this pre-ordering simply for FOMO. My pressing run is 400 + 50 and I haven't yet sold out within 2 months - which is ample time for someone who actually wants it to buy it.- Pre-order sales ?
My view on this in regard to 'Hit and Run' label is that I simply don't solicit or accept pre-orders. There are simply too many things that can go wrong in production and cause delays - and selfishly perhaps - I don't want to be having to take time to field enquiries about why folks haven't received their orders. And for that reason I've taken to not announcing forthcoming releases until I actually have them shown as shipped from the factory - otherwise a mountain of orders come flying in when I've no exact date as to when I can mail out. I guess I can take that stance having not to worry about cashflowing future releases.- New Sounds " New Sounds "
Correct.- New Sounds " New Sounds "
Several cuts on youtube. 2022 'Hit and Run' 45 will be : Don't Take Your Love + Here I Am / How I Feel Inside- New Sounds " New Sounds "
Thanks to all for their input on my enquiry. Look out for a Hit and Run 45 in 2022, subject to pressing plant vagaries...- New Sounds " New Sounds "
Thank you, Blackpoolsoul. As the tracks seems to have been cut in Va. not NJ - does anyone have any idea of the studio(s) used ? - Nancy Butts
