  1. Do people actually still travel and attend certain venues because certain DJs are on? If so, find out who they are and book them. I'd go for DJs than can play a mixture of eras and styles for hour spots. Plus maybe some that are more specific in their plays, but only let them have two 30 minute spots (stop the moaners kicking off?) All the DJs should be there for the duration to stop repeat plays - they go on in ascending order of their alcohol tolerance. Have a request sheet on the door for the DJs to peruse before they go on and hopefully oblige in their spot. Also, might stop DJs playing some cack that just want to hear and getting away with it by saying 'request' before they play it.
  2. I suppose you'd want them back at the prices I paid you for them? OK my 20 minute spot would be Ben Jackson, Ujima, Lust and the Power of Attorney Band! Would that temp you back from your lav break?
  3. 20 minutes, it takes me longer than that to get my CD player and laptop up and running! Then I'd play Ben Jackson four times in a row just to P you off!
  4. The original is very rare, might even be a one off. It's label is blue. Poke first played it covered up as Tony Raymonds, then sold it Robin Salter who uncovered it. Robin lent it to the label owner to press up the yellow copies as he didn't have the original tapes. The yellow ones, I think should be considered as legit re-issues.

That explains why my mp3's named Carl Carlton, but I don't think it's him.

Simon M is the man for taking up this challenge 80's wise, he's got disks that are far rarer than stuff considered 'rare' or 'northern' in the above post; and I think there one or two Japanese collectors who even Simon would admit would give him a run for his money!

The trouble with a lot of eighties records is that people don't really like the drum machine beat on a lot of them. And how many of them are ruined by that awful rock guitar solo two third of the way throught them (though even taking that out, King Moses is crap IMO)

1981, same year and label as the Controllers version of 'gamble on your love and lost', a great cover of Ray Goodman & Brown (the Moments) track.

That was a lie Steve, we're both actually called Brian and live next door to you; it's all part of a ploy to steal your identity so we can go down the post office and sign for all those 7" square packages that you get each day! :-)

"I'm Steve Woomble, and so is my wife" Getting bored now, so as the record was paid for by Paypal by Jules isn't there a fair bet Jules has a valid current email address? Why doesn't Alan PM Martin Jules's email address so that Martin can email Jules to ask for the matrix numbers etc? ( If privacy is a problem, can't Alan email Martin's email address to Jules?)

  20. Maybe whoever christened TTerry had a stammer?
  21. Jobete, as in the Motown publishing company, is Jobete because it was named after Berry Gordy's children Hazel Joy, Berry & Terry. However, perhaps someone may have made a mistake when writting / printing some labels thinking should be Jobette as in the diminuative form of a word e.g. kitchenette, masonette or the feminine form of a name e.g. Paulette Reaves, Jeanette Harper?
  22. Simon ps. Does anyone still like Pockets "Catch me" Arc 7 or 12 .. I think its great
