We did this at The Fez two years ago it went down well, as from Jan 26[ we star with a new guy Mitch Reeves from Notts been collecting record for years but never played on a stage he gos on 8 till 9, so lets hope we can give him some support with the guest Dj the old man him self Doug Hall from Newark. I think that the soul scene may be influence with new blood on the decks giving a fresh light about Northern soul and show how friendly we can be. Other promoters could follow suit don't you think See you this Friday pal dendog

The only thing I saw that guy Spinner said was its Pilsley badge & who who are you two comments which I could not see what harm he did?who ever he or she is Regarding taking it personal your debate asked about flyers that you have seen "night for 'proper soulies' or 'soulies only' that means you were querying about what other venues mean when they put such statements on there flyers I thought you asking for a personal view. Other comment progressed as you have seen & some of them you have agreed with, one were about politics & too what they ware do you think the 1000s that read all what said, some would not take it personal? But Mr & Mrs Bridget I would not and have not tried to insult you because I have great respect for you & yours regardless of what you have been told. What other people do and say about me or you should not matter because the soul lives on in all of us, as you well know there are some out there trying to spoil the soul scene with statements like he said you said she said please ignore them if I had anything to say I would say it ask any one that knows me. ]K.T.F PAL dendog

Kev Well said totally with policies dress code and dance routine's The policy at The Fez, Forest Town ½ Dayer, & East Kirkby Welfare is not to dictate or teach you new tunes but for you to enjoy the sounds from early soul club's days & Northern Soul Classics, our visitors new & old return month after month & know what to expect. Our flyers say it all Northern Soul Oldies Only But do we knock other venues about there polices or dress code answer to that is NO The nearest new venue I have attended on there flyer says a Soul club for Soulies but don't imply 'proper soulies' or 'soulies only' so I don't know were Bridget is coming or going with those remarks. The Coops do a good job at the venue they run so why not keep doing that, and remember what Bam by's Dad said if you cant say something nice don't say owt Dendog

Its obvious that some on here has a gripe about other venues and there polices again. But those same old same old refuses to acknowledge that the particular venues they are taking a jib at are getting the people in that only want to listen to the old club & Northern Soul Classics. So I personally cant see a problem with a Promoter that wishes to cater for those small minorities. I think it belittles anyone that takes the time out to give remarks to what some one wears carries or dances too. Being a so-called promoter myself wish to thank all the promoters around for giving there time and money, and entertaining there regular visitors I know how hard it is. dendog

HI Drew As a promoter of the Fez an Oldies Only Venue my answer to this question is If you put a record on the decks thats new!!! out of ten would get up and dance? But if you put say a burnt out oldie on such as Frank Wilson Do I love, no matter what venue you are at out of ten would get up. I can only say there are 1000's of oldies records that are still played at the Fez there are four dj's on you might get a record played twice but not often so thats 100+ in one night some say same old same old songs but we like them and the floor proves that but if a venue or promoter are turning to cross the board policy then you would hear less of the oldies and more of the modern but i would not knock them because they are pleasing the other soulies but burnt out oldies never i cut my first teeth on them but Drew good question dendog
