Fabulous Peps
Hi Guys, I'm after label scans of The Fabulous Peps (Tom Storm & The Peps etc) releases on Ge-Ge, D-Town, Premium Stuff, Wee 3, and Wheelsville. Don't mind if they are issues or demos (or both) as long as they are good quality scans. Also, if anyone has them, scans of the following records: Little Joe & The Thrillers - Peanuts / ? - Okeh - 1957 The Vibratones - Wedding Bells / ? - ? - 1957 Little Joe and The Moroccos with The Band - Bubble Gum / Trouble In The Candy Shop Bumble Bee 500 - 1958 Even if you can't let me have a scan, filling in some of the missung details would be a great help. Either load them as attachments here, or PM them, or email them to me on dave @ soulfulkindamusic.net (without the gaps obviously) Thanks in anticipation.

How Much Of Your Body Would You Give Up ?
Yeah. He hired some equipment for a Soul night he put on in Brum. One of the arms didn't have a weight on the other end, so the stylus cut it's own groove.

How Much Of Your Body Would You Give Up ?
Oh yes, we used to have some scintillating conversations in that corner. I think the funniest was the Lea Manor after the minibus trip to the 100 Club. To give the background, John Pugh had organised a mini bus full of the West Midlands finest to venture down to London. A good night was had by all and we piled into the minibus for the journey home. The usual fun and games ensued with the driver deciding on a rather eccentric route to find some toilets. After threats from Carl that went along the lines of "If you don't pullover now I;m gonna piss on you !" the driver actually took it seriously. Miraculously round the next corner was a layby, outside a cemetary, with some toilets. It was like a scene from the Keystone Cops with fifteen blokes fighting each other to get off the bus and into the toilets first ! The lady selling flowers face was a picture ! However, I digress, prior to this Johnny Weston (It had to be John didn't it) had bought a coffee and was sitting holding it in his lap, just as a bag fell off the rack above him, knocking scalding coffee all over his crutch. Much screaming and hopping about followed from John, to a background of hysterical laughter from the rest of us. The classic micky take took place though when John Pugh turned up at the the Manor with an empty coffee cup and a packet of Hob Knob biscuits, but the packaging on the biscuits had been slightly doctored so it read Hot Knob biscuits. Again, much hysterical laughter from everyone except poor Johnny Weston ! You're right, they were good times.

Mace Made Me Cream My Pants
You might have to explain that one to some of the more delicate members of the forum Steve. And you'll now be labeled as a mysogonist as well as all the other things they called you on the other thread

The Magnetics
Some other label scans. I Hasten to add, that whilst I'd love to own the big three, 'I Have a Girl' is the only one I do own out of all the Magnetics singles, so in answer to your question I have no idea what the Uptites is like.

The Magnetics
I'm afraid you are getting your Magnetics mixed up. The group who recorded on Allrite are a Detroit group, possibly the same group as the group who recorded on Bonnie. The group who recorded on Ra-Sel are from Philadelphia, thus the Allrite single definitely wasn't also issued on Ra-Sel because it was a different group. And the group who recorded on JV are from Chicago, and another group entirely frrom the two already mentioned. Here's all the info I've managed to gather on 'The Magnetics' The Magnetics (From Philadelphia) Ra-Sel R7-104 - I Have A Girl / Love And Devotion - 1967 The Philadelphia Magnetics have as far as I know only the one release, although other releases on the Ra Sel label exist. John Anderson at Soul Bowl is rumoured to have several unreleased acetates by the group. The Magnetics (From Detroit) Bonnie 107374 - Lady In Green / Heart You're Made Of Stone - 196? The Detroit Magnetics are possibly the same group that recorded on Allrite (Because of the Detroit association of the label). However, according to Dennis Coffey (Who played on both group's sessions) are NOT The Volumes recording under a different name as was once thought. The Magnetics (No idea where from although I would suspect Detroit, so it might even be the same group) Allrite 620 - Where Are You / The Train - 1962 The Magnetics (From Detroit) Hitsville Acetate - Father Time Histville Acetate - Please Don't Go Away The second Detroit Magnetics are definitely a white sounding girl group, which according to Andy Rix, are not particularly good, which would account for the tracks never gaining an actual release. The Magnetics (From Chicago) Sable 102 - When I'm With My Baby / Count The Days - 196? J-V 2501 - Oh Love / Wasting Time - 1969 The Chicago Magnetics releases have Lee McKinney as the lead singer, so are all the same group. Lee McKinney & The Magnetics (Same group from Chicago) Sable 104 - I'll Keep Holding On / ? - 196? The Magnetics (No idea where from, but definitely a different group) Sound Trap 30391 - Let Me Comfort You / Good By My Love - ? The group on Sound Trap are a complete mystery to me. Help anyone ?

Huh????
You're wrong. Got an official Motown release both here and in the States. Admittedly CD or album only, but still an official release.

Themed Soul Night
Pedant is one word that could be used

Film With A Northern Soundtrack
That's The one. Thanks Craig
-
Huh????
I'm sure that Denny, who's originally from Warrington, and now in Oz, found a copy when he lived in SA. It would have been after Roger found the tapes. Mind you given my memory it might not be this track at all
-
Film With A Northern Soundtrack
No, it's a new film, either last year or just (maybe not yet) released.
-
Film With A Northern Soundtrack
There was a thread about a new film which had a Northern soundtrack, but I can't remember what the thread was called, can someone remind me Cheers
-
Huh????
Apparently 'Loving By The Pound' came out on legitimate South African vinyl LP

Themed Soul Night
Sounds a great idea Tony, If you go through the Kent catalogue there's enough for more than one night, and that's just one label !

Wanted
It probably is, and without digging the contract out to check, I'm fairly sure that the rights have returned to me now. So any budding publishers interested ? In fact, Volume two is complete, but since Mike and Stuart split up at Bee Cool they have stopped doing books, so if there is anyone out there who fancies talking to me about Volume two, get in touch.

Cats Photos Wanted
Max has joined SS in the last week or so, the title of this thread might tempt him into sharing some of his recollections.

Wanted
OK then. I'm afraid it really will be a second hand copy. The complete print run sold out, Bee Cool haven't any left and neither do I. It does go through Ebay occasionally.
