  1. Yes, but that was a totally different scene. A scene that many of us on here spent most of our time trying to avoid.
  2. I can see why you'd say that. But sounds much, much better played out loud to a packed enthusiastic crowd. Has a sort of euphoric quality... Not that I need to defend my musical taste
  3. I actually have it on a 12" and its still 3.28 mins long. Just think if he had actually given out 10 ways.... the 12" would have been pushing 4 whole minutes!
  4. I'll send you an MP3 Regret I can't hear it in soul source. Maybe problem with my mac. Are you playing hard to get again?

Parts of the scene are are hardly evolving at all. Couple of weeks back I had an interesting chat with one of the scenes top collectors, who I hadn't seen for some time. He said he hadn't been out much 'cos there was nothing much that there was new to miss. Whilst I was trying to answer that, he said, "imagine what I'd have missed Col, if I'd missed 6 months of the Blackpool Mecca? Makes you think.
  6. I recently purchased above record in hope of learning a few new tricks. Having listened to it, I can tell you that Lenny only offers 8 ways of loving. What do you think my chances are of getting a 20% refund?
  7. Post to follow

The discussion began, then quicky floundered. I agree with Simon, you need to be more specific. Ortherwise, as they say in the re-runs "Its all epedemic" Col.
  9. Jimmy Delphs......love it. Often play it my spots, clears the floors better than a new broom around here. Such is life
  10. We have a fairly healty soul night locally Bisley. Pulls in around 300 every 3 months. It about 35 miles from the 100 club. Less than 10 people from Bisley will ever go to the 100 club. If you ask the remaining 290 why they never go the answer is/will be " i won't like it" You couldn't make stuff like this up.
  11. Sorry mate, ain't got a clue what you're going on about. Whos Timi Willis? Any chance of a soundfile?
  12. Sorry Baz meant Taylor Made. 4 Vandells gets close. But I always knew that was sung by a white guy. Great dancer, but fails on the soul factor.
  13. Well thats just human nature! But if you end up with some quality soul........thats a result.
  14. Think thats the one John. Not too sure where we are about posting MP3s on here, maybe Baz will confirm. But pls do PM me. Cheers Col.
  15. Did anyone that set out with express intention of making a quality 'Northern Soul' record ever achieve it? Or is it/was it by its very nature impossible? Col. Looking fwd to a decent argument
  16. Apologies in advance, Heard last night a modern track played by Jamie at Chi-Soul. seemed to be really well known & very much appreciated by the crowd. All I know is that it went "I've got my saturday night, sunday morning face on." Yeah i know, not too helpful! Really appreciate it if someone could post an mp3 here or PM me a copy. Cheers for looking. Col.
  17. The Flirtations......as previously seen.........in ruins.

    Love it
  19. I hope you are wrong, but I do know there is quite a large market out there for RnB that is completeley unaware of our scenes interest in RnB.....and vice versa. I do a bit of work for a company that has successfully organised blues/RnB weekenders in this country for the last 4 or 5 years. If you could fuse both scenes, you might have something. But you won't find me hanging around it........ Col.
  20. Not my mate.........he was fast asleep on the table
  21. Excellent clip Ever tried spinning both ways?....really tricky!
  22. Theres another one in you tube. Dani Behr I think doing a send up, with a DJ called Morris who runs a butchers shop. They cut to him dancing "Morris Dancing" Quite funny.
  23. Didn't Robbie Vincent/Chris Hill/Greg Edwads also use the Mafia term? Think it was something to do with them all increasing there DJ rates collectively, thereby holding promoters to ransom. Not literally of course.
