I think the Acid Jazz label are behind this collabration. Which is weird as the guy who runs it IS a soul fan.- Robert Elms - Dean Parrish
I didn't know he did The Face and am somewhat surprised. Yes he must have had some clout then. These days he rattles on like a little old lady. I still have the Northern Soul article from The Face......1982 ish? Derek, yes good for 100 Club. Looking fwd to it. Am booking Monday off work- Robert Elms - Dean Parrish
Robert Elms went on a public speaking training session. The crux of which was "tell 'em what you're gonna tell 'em, tell 'em it & then tell 'em what you've already told 'em" Repeat ad nauseam.- Robert Elms - Dean Parrish
Thanks for the warning!- Robert Elms - Dean Parrish
Alright there Derek! Well, here it is. What you think? I wouldn't be surprised. I'm not a fan. SF227604_01_01_01.mp3- Dj Alias - Who Was First
When you booked Colin Bee, you might get Les or you might get his mate, who was I think Colin Berkinshaw? Les supplied the records & the Colin Bee Roadshow. Colin Berkinshaw? just fronted it sometimes. Colin once told me that he didn't really like northern!- Robert Elms - Dean Parrish
Robert Elms is a DJ on Radio London who really gets on my pip. He is very fond of his own voice, but comes across as one of the lads. Bit of a geezer. Also puts him self about as a bit of a an expert on sub cultures of days gone by. To re-inforce his credibility he plays a bit of soul/funk. Today he played Lord Large featuring Dean Parrish - 'Left Right & Centre' A record he descibed as 'mighty.' Sorry having trbl posting link from Radio London site. But its the worst crock of shite you ever heard. Worse than anything in Ken's collection. Col.- Where Does 'do Do Do Do Do Do Doody Do' Come From?
"To be is to do"--Socrates. "To do is to be"--Jean-Paul Sartre. "Do be do be do"--Frank Sinatra Any help? Col.- Togetherness, Stoke - Dancing Comeptition Video Clip
The Stoke dancing competition was a joke. The organisers decided to do it on the stage where there wasn't enough room. i don't beleive it was open to everybody to enter. I was told at the time the management selected the few entrants they wanted to dance.- Frank Wilson - New Vocal Discovery

Yeah, yeah yeah! But Roger always seems to have a few anniv singles in his box reasonably priced........- Marvin Gaye
So the darts were confiscated. What happened to the dart board?- Vocal To Double Cookin
The MAGICIANS -"Just A Little Faith And Understanding"- Think Roger Stewart was selling for £30 at that time- Marvin Gaye
Marvin Gaye is no doubt near the top of most soul lovers 'best vocalist' So not much chance for a debate there! But what is best ever recording? I'll start the ball rolling with my nomination "Where Are We Going?" Which is his best & most under rated. I expect of course you all to fall in line & agree with me........ Col- I've Paid Over The Top And I Admit It
I paid £20 for 'Run For Shelter' 20 years ago. According to Record Collector its still only £20 now Does that count?- Rimini 2006
Sun & Soul- One-derful, Mar-v-lus Train Journey
"Any favs for you in that lot?" Well I'd go for the bottle of red, a big bag of M&S Sea Salt and Crushed Black Pepper Crisps Lincoln is a brilliant place, trouble is you have to go through bits of Lincolnshire to get there. Have to get back to you regarding the music........- Andy Bb
Well there was an awful rumour............started by Soul Girl.............that Andy BB.............wore the same shirt twice. I kid you not!- Favourite Motown Album Sleeve?
Best one I had was Earl Van Dyke on UK Motown. Swapped it 20 years ago with JM. Never seen another. Brilliant cover. Awful album. Scan anyone? Col.- Across The Board
Possibly. But couldn't resist it. Picked up the CD 'The Collection' by Sounds Of Blackness in HMV for £4 on saturday. Thought it would be good to share it with everyone. - Robert Elms - Dean Parrish
