Wigan Casino 5th Annversary Contined
Yep. At the risk of being boring I'm adding my name to the list of people who were there. The 5th Anniv. atmosphere was like a cup final. Having said that there were good & bad nights - but the good ones are the stuff of legends......

Wigan Casino 5th Annversary Contined
Frank Dell actually cleared the floor at a fairly recent oldies night. I was gutted for the DJ. And also gutted that it doesn't get the recognition I think its due.

"Paula Durante If he were mine - On the GJM label comes Paula Durante.Driving drums and horns in the opening bars set you up for a great dance beat but then Paula hits you with her dulcit tones . One of Richards biggies for the year but long forgotten now and rarely played. An original copy would set you back around £75 ,beware of those awful green bootlegs Yuk!" Clarky used to introduce this at Yate & play her other track "You're not my kind" And conversely introduce "You're not my kind" but actually play "If he were mine" What a wag! Strange that I can remember crap like this from 25 yrs ago, but can't remember the names of my next door neighbours. Would love to hear how good or bad they sound given the passing of time. Hopefully a little better than Esko Affair. Col.

Heard The Rumours
That probably owes more to a seperate rumour that has also been circulating for some time......that it is in fact a very bad record.

Classic With Modern Sound
It sucks. Big time.

Heard The Rumours
We should all desist in discussing rumours..... And that should start the day after dealers publish independently audited records of all their multiple copies. Which will coincide with the day hell freezes over.

Tuesday's Forgotten Oldie
Not a bad tune, but has sweet FA to do with a soul scene. Good music to play when the circus marches into town. Col.

New Dance Act Called Casino - Listen
You have to hear the Catalinas version though, its side splitting! Ref Casinos track, now heard it. My thoughts are fair play to them for giving it a whirl. Not my cuppa T - but then it was never meant to be for old soulies.

Anyone Remember This One?
First heard by me a couple of years ago in a London club as played by Ms Hurley. Picked it up & played it at Lightwater. Few old mates not into the scene as such turned up & said words to the effect of "thats the only tune we knew" They actually remembered it as as a 1976 new release. Sort of did my head in a bit

Do Djs Really Really Know
I wish to pass on the following piece of advice, that was given to me about a year ago. For a happy care free soul night......... "Avoid anything with Wigan in the title" Works every time for me.
