  1. Cheers Tom, like it.
  2. Christmas has just about cleared me out both emotionally & financially. Going to have to hit the road running 3.1.2006. I'm going to be doing a new compilation for the van & could do with a few more suggestions. So far I've got: Otis Lee - Hard Road To Hoe Candy & The Kisses - Out In The Streets Again Sherlock Holmes - Standing At A Standstill Choice Of Colour - I'll Be Around Anybody care to add a few suggestions.........
  3. Don't worry.......I'm not taking it personally
  4. What in old money?
  5. Yes. Thats a good plan
  6. 1. Dunno, there's massive hole in my head where most people have a memory. 2. In no order Arthur Fenn, Terry Jones, Taffy, Mick H. There are very few others that I'm prepared to travel a long way to hear. 3. Maybe Matt Bolton, or JT Col. ps Would like to see a local guy Jez Bishop get more bookings.
  7. Bought mine this year. Paid in region of £30-40.
  8. Hey we must be Chalk & Cheese then.
  9. I think you will find Exeter is where it has always been. Have spare copy Earl Grant if interested. Enjoy Stoke. col.
  10. what speed is it? Col.
  11. I'd have thought it would be something like: Cashmeres - Showstopper Dee Dee Sharp - Deep Dark Secret Montclairs - Hey You! Don't You Fight It Col.
  12. Quality reply Ken. I dunno about this record at all. Sounds like a track from an old movie. I have visions of John Wayne riding off into the sunset to meet the Spanish Armada.
  13. Is it on the right speed?
  14. My knowledge of soul is limited. I wasn't sure what the connection was between Jean Carn & Margie Joseph. I'm still confused who Bobby M is.
  15. Glad I made you smile Lots of other happy people out there too, 80 downloads so far! Col
  16. If its a choice between charging for it & going out of business, he hasn't got a choice. So its irrelevant what I think. I don't know the guy, but I also wish him good luck.
  17. My computer indicates that I have now played this 14 times. I just love those sublime vocals, not once have I perked up & thought "ooh what a mess" Different strokes & all that. Col
  18. To be honest I didn't really understand the point Ken was making.
  19. I was trying to take absolute classics & show that there are better versions out there. You appear to be taking a crappy record & showing that there is an even crappier version.
  20. I'd agree with that. Bizarre version. Surprised it was a Stafford track as thought Stafford didn't really go for pop stompers. Heard Freda Paynes 70s track "I get high in your memory" played out last week. What a difference!
  21. What stick my head above the parapet again?..............OK
  22. Ouch!.......I'm really losing the argument here. You'll be pleased to know that I remain unperturbed. My mission statement remains to inform, educate & entertain.......and sometimes theres very little to work with here It struck me that the Mary Wells track might not be that well known. So I'm posting it now, that will give a lot more people the opportunity of telling me how good it is.......look fwd to locking horns later. Col ps Alan - love to here Jean Carn version pps Tony are you coming to our local new years eve bash at the Duke Of York?
  23. Been playing the wrong version - for years! Just noticed how much better Patti Austions version of 'You Didn't Say A Word' is....... Also currently prefer Margie Josephs version of "Lets Stay Together" over Al Greens. And Mary Wells version of "In The Midnight Hour" is a country mile better than Wilson Picketts.
