London Soul Events
Fair comment. Just for the record I didn't go to the re-opening of the Dome. But I heard from 4 different sets of friends that it played way too much RnB. 1 DJ way playing stuff closer to doo-wop & rockabilly. They said they wouldn't go back to the Dome & suggested I wouldn't enjoy it. So I haven't bothered. As far as i'm concerned the Dome now has a reputation for playing too much RnB. If things have changed & I'm now wrong, I would love to hear about it. Sorry for being a bit on the blunt side. But I am just writing what other people think. Col. PS - I'm off to Nottingham for the week-end

Regret all the feed back I have on the Dome has been negative. The main issue being music policy - way too much RnB Col.

London Soul Events
Good post Steve A. I've been considering the issue for some time. I did originally think that it was Londoners inability to manage a trip of more than 3 steps on a red bus that was the problem. These days I think there just aren't very many soulies in London. Yes, I know there are 8 million londoners but they just aint interested in soul. I don't know if anyone else has noted but an awful lot of the people at London soul nites are from outide London. Col.

Eddie Parker "i'm Gone" Ten Grand ?
Don't see how people can rely on Manship's auction prices. The whole system is open to abuse. Its too easy in theory for Manship to bid up the price of a record. He can't lose as he's on commission. Col

Rare Soul Trading Post
News just filtering through of a 'Rare Soul Trading Post' opening up soon in Aldershot. It will be located in 'shop' premises but wont trade like your average shop. It will not be open to the general public as such. You'll need to phone first. The idea behind this is to exclude the general public - who as we all know are a pain the arse. I'm not aware of anything similar down South. I like the idea and hope it pays off for all concerned as it might lead to similar ventures elsewhere. More details when I get 'em. Col

Worst Record Spun By Djs
I think you maybe right there Pete. And if so it was probably me playing it. Aah the good old YC days. My top record at the time was Lesley Dawson* - Run For Shelter. Which I paid £15 for, and according to Record Collector.....its still worth £15. Consistency is often over rated. Col. Lesley Dawson was a girl and not that fat comedian blokey. That would have been embarrassing.

Helen Shapiro - Tell Me What He Said. What were we all thinking about.....truly awful. Her other played record 'Stop & You'll Become Aware' wasn't as bad. Not heard it for years, does it ever get played out these days? Just dug out Terrible Tom, its as bad as ever I remember. I'm going rebury it pronto. Col.

Northern Nights In The Home Counties
Sorry for delay with reply. Belvedere was one of a kind. Actually jam packed on a sunday lunch time - 250/300 people?. Chris Brown was resident DJ and almost totally Jazz Funk. What the hell was I doing there! Having a good time!!.....I loved it. Due to its location between Ascot & Sunningdale it became a victim of of its own success. The locals, some of the wealthiest & most well connected, couldn't understand it and objected to it on that basis - IMO. The writing was on the wall when the police set up road blocks - stop & search etc. Met a guy at Prestatyn this year who went straight from the Goldmine & parked up in the car park at the Belvedere, waiting for it to open. Didn't do Pantiles, but did do Frenchies - both in Camberley. Pantiles seemed for an older set, Frenchies was Chris Brown. Col.

Good news. I've been away for 24 hours & I seem to have achieved the near impossible, in uniting most of Source Scource ......(in disagreeing with me). Tomorrow I plan to single handedly tackle the Palestinian crisis. Col. PS its noted than none of you actually seemed to note the first part of the first sentence in my first post.

Soul Deep 2
Oh did I? Or did the producers of the show stick in 3 mins of the Rolling Stones to make the show more palatable for white people? I think I appreciate how tough it was for black performers in the 60s. But when it comes to showing a concert/performance, it should have been a show case for black artists. Col.

Soul Deep 2
Tuned in half way through & caught the Rolling Stones doing a cover version. I mean how tricky is it?..........filling up a show about soul music using black people! The BBC just couldn't handle it. Col.
