  1. Bit quiet on this thread so far today Here's a good one and the best side of this particular record in my opinion Have everything on this iconic label with the exception of Freddie Butler on 10001 - not that great a 45 and too expensive in relation to the quality It's a toss-up whether you call the label Wheelsville or Wheelsville USA - two schools of thought Cheers Richard
  2. Says PLUG SIDE on the DJ copies and is by far the better song One of my all time favourites and a perfect example of that mid-tempo 60s Detroit girlie sound Cheers Richard
  3. It certainly is Mr. F Cheers Richard
  4. Pete 'Who Am I' the official A side Cheers Richard
  5. Nice one Derek Cheers Richard
  6. Carms - is this the same group? Garu label is San Antonio Texas. Cheers Richard
  7. And isn't that Keb Darge dancing on the Vodafone advert? Cheers Richard
  8. Why is it? It says Disc Jockey copy and the picture (I assume not the disc for sale) also shows the DJ copy with Not For Sale writing etc. Surely the boot you refer to is a grey label without any such writing? Cheers Richard
  9. Didn't rate this - then it grew on me and I love it Other side not bad either Cheers Richard
  10. Here's one of the best I reckon Early sound like a top quality Lee Rogers track Seems quite hard to pick up Cheers Richard
  11. Cheers Chalky There are so many Detroit-related 45s with blurred boundaries - and Robert Bateman's name appears on a few Others include the Ric Williams labels - Boo and Zodiac - which although Chicago labels I believe, were heavily Detroit recorded and produced on several releases Makes this collecting lark interesting anyway Presume both the Harrison Brothers and Douglas Gibson recordings were Detroit recorded - anyone confirm please? Cheers Richard
  12. This is a truly superb thread - has gone a long way to restoring my love and faith in Soul Source. Much appreciation for the depth of knowledge, passion and sense of history of the posters Genuinely fascinating stuff. Thank you all. Richard
  13. Well which one of you was it then - for those who didn't hear it Dean actually read it out and thought the message said" is your radio show OVER" Richard
  14. On air now and Dean's looking for inspiring and interesting discussion topics - so why not phone, email, text into the show Dean Anderson - "Northern Soul Show" on Tulip Radio now!!! 7-9pm www.tulip-radio.co.uk Cheers Richard
  15. One I need in case anyone can help please Here's a couple of scans lifted from the internet somewhere Cheers Richard
  16. That's the fella Cheers Richard
  17. Here's a decent double-sider by Jackie & Tonetts - who also recorded on Wheel City which was part of the same group of labels. Cheers Richard
  18. Hi Dave Yes, isn't that a West Coast project bought in and released on the label? Also, wasn't Roosvelt Grier a pro football or baseball player - or am I getting confused with someone else? Cheers Richard
  19. Gigi & Charmaines discog here on soulfulkindmusic.com https://www.soulfulkindamusic.net/gigi.htm The CD also has lost of info and may have a discog - can't remember but notes were informative as I recall mate Cheers Richard
  20. Wilxy - you are a man of excellent taste Richard
  21. And here's the best side by far - and why it was the A-side A contender for my top 5 on the right day Cheers Richard
  22. One of the best on the label this Here's the 'Northern' side - actually the official B side Cheers Richard
  23. IMO a fake is a fake is a fake - whether fake Rolex, fake DVDs, fake tenners, or fake Northern Soul. What is the opposite to OVO? NOVO (not OVO) BVO (bootleg vinyl only) CVO (counterfeit ...) Cheers Richard
  24. The ones in the SoulfulKindaMusic listing on the link from the first post are 1980s releases - plus some of the details are incorrect/incomplete: 8016 – Lee Rogers – Rockin Skates / It Must Be Love Coming Down On Me - 1966 8018 – Jena Johnson – Livin’ In Love In New York / ? - 1966 8100 – Joey Rubins Jr – Let The Beat Groove You On / Together Again - 1966 8108 – Cardella Demillo – Gimmie Whatcha Promised Me / Inst - 1966 940 – Coy’s Toyz – Come And Get It / ? - 1966 Cheers Richard
  25. Here's an issue with the 689 mix As the Peps rather than the Fabulous Peps - plus the other side song title is mis-spelt Cheers Richard
