Barbara Jean & The Lyrics
Superb record but always destined to be mainly a collectors fave I reckon. Great double-sider. Would not be without mine. Probably harder than most would think to pick up. £300 is a decent price IMO. Cheers Richard

Dean Andersons Soul Show
Great show this. I live in Newark but I'm not normally in on a Sunday night but have been the past couple and have had the benefit of being able to listen in on a real radio, rather than online. Great show - tonight Dean played some superb tunes including Paris, Eric Mercury, Cashmeres (...door...), Ann perry (instrumental), Chaumonts some Motown. Nice mix of sounds - good relaxed chat. Well recommended. Keep up the great show Dean! Cheers Richard

The Soul 45
Yes I have Curtis Mayfield - Move On Up Can I make a suggestion please that anyone who hasn't got Spyder Turner - I Can't Make It Anymore goes on eBay now and buys one!! - it shouldn't cost you more than a tenner. Must be enough on there to go round. Call yourself a northern fan and not got Spyder T !!! (joking ) Then nobody will not have it - game over - sorted! Cheers Richard

Is A Warp, Any Warp, A Complete Disqualifier
I like my records to be totally flat - which is soooo picky given they are 40+ years old Edge warps tend to get mentioned mostly, but slight dishing (my pet hate) often goes unmentioned. For me a warp of any kind affects the value - even if it does not affect play. This is partly because of the visual pleasure I get from my records (ooooer! ) - I just love the look of them! (took me years to appreciate DJ writing - which I now like - and I turned down some great opportunities in search for the clean label), but also because I think that an undulation in the playing surface will eventually wear and so affect the play later, even if it is classed as NAP now. I'm a picky bugger - but these vinyl antiques are expensive! Whenever I get a new record the first thing I do after checking the vinyl and label condition is to hold it up edge ways and turn it looking for warps! If more people did that they would spot them too. Just got a great 45 in the post from an excellent dealer in the USA - several hundred pound 45 - got a good price on it too - straight out of the packet I spotted it has a very slight warp like the one you describe - it wasn't mentioned - not sure whether it's a problem either What to do? Your call I guess whether to list it. This post has been not much help I'm afraid Cheers Richard

Don't collect Motown but pretty sure I have Supremes and Temptations on UK TM from when I was a kid (don't like Supremes at all). Don't like Al Wilson The Snake - one of the 'northern' records that makes me cringe Got Spyder Turner of course One I think everyone should have is Darrell Banks - Open The Door To Your Heart Cheers Richard

Steve Mancha
Steve Mancha Did My Baby Call from the VSOP CD Detroit Soulman - The Best Of Steve Mancha. After a couple of beers I would say the previous one I posted above from the Goldmine CD is not Mancha - but whether it is the Professionals, exactly as released on Groove City, I can't say. Now I bet someone is going to say these are alternate takes, so there will be even more versions to work out Cheers Richard 01___Did_My_Baby_Call.mp3

Steve Mancha
OK - I have Mancha on vinyl but not the Professionals (poor f**kin me ) so ... Post 1 of 2. NB - both tracks from CD straight off the laptop. Did My Baby Call from the Goldmine The Essential Detroit Soul Collection CD. Credited to Mancha but reputedly the Professionals. The best version by far. Cheers Richard 04___Did_My_Baby_Call.mp3

Sue Perrin On J&w
Anyone tell me whether the yellow issue or the white promo of Sue Perrin - Can't Let Go/Clickety Clack Heart on J&W is the harder please? Cheers Richard
-
Steve Mancha
Yes, that was my assessment too. We just need someone to post up the Professionals from original vinyl Cheers Richard
-
Steve Mancha
Hi Bri Would you say that the CD track credited to Mancha is the same take as your Professionals 45 then please? Cheers Richard
-
Steve Mancha
Mancha has a distinctive vocal style that can be spotted a mile off. Cheers Richard
-
Steve Mancha
But if you check out Chalky's post above ... Although it's the B side of " That's why I love you " it's in fact Steve mancha and not them. ... so, the Professionals' version on the Groove City 45 was Steve Mancha anyway - correct? Can someone post up the Professionals' version from the original vinyl onto Refosoul please (sadly I don't have it )? Cheers Richard
-
Steve Mancha
OK, so if I have got all of the above right ... 1) The version of DMBC used on the Goldmine CD was the exact version of the song that was released and credited to the Professionals on Groove City. 2) The Professionals did not however record that track and the Groove City release credited to the Proressionals was actually an alternative take of the track by Steve Mancha (which the Goldmine CD sounds like of course). Right? Cheers Richard

Small Edge Chip ' Am I Being Fussy?
NOT a small edge chip - surely must affect play (even if a small effect ). Definately that chip must have a big effect on price Ask for your money back if I were you - 45 NOT as described. Small would be a small triangular chip measured about 2mm (not cm) at it's widest part IMVFHO. Cheers Richard

How Did It Get There?
I got a copy of a Wheelsville 45 from Uganda! (it was posted from Michigan to the UK but the writing was dodgy and it probably looked like UG so ended up in Uganda!) Got here in the end (yes, I know it doesn't really count) Cheers Richard

Devotions On Tri-sound
These are the three label designs for anyone who is interested. Can't be bothered mucking about with scanning mine just now, so these are various eBay etc. scans Cheers Richard
-
Devotions On Tri-sound
Agree with all you said Mark - very eloquently put too. My observation was just that it "would be a top tune out IMVFHO if it was at all rare" - that is the choice of the DJ and punter. In my place in it is definately tops! Cheers Richard

Devotions On Tri-sound
It's a great double sider. Pure 1966 class Same Old Sweet Lovin' is a brilliant track, which would be a top tune out IMVFHO if it was at all rare. Tri-Sound obviously had faith in it as it came out on 3 pressings (I do too, as I have all three of them ): Gold with horizontal lines and Hamilton Park in the address Yellow with horizontal lines and Hamilton Park in the address Yellow without the horizontal lines and the Detroit address without Hamilton Park in it (like a normal Ed Crook without the stars design) Cheers Richard
