Grantham And All Things Historically Soul
Holy mother of ..... didn't realise the big T was from town ??? Big bad Barry is a Notts boy originally mate so don't think he will have any info on the 70,s in town. Loz seems to remember Willie mac & Roger Burin (?) doing soul nights and mobiles around the 70,s I only moved here in 1994 so my knowledge is limited to what Neil Olive & DR have told me, i used to go round Neils house and we would talk for hours & hours on the scenes early days in & around Grantham, Neil would make the coffee,s and i always took a packet of biscuits to munch on , strangely Neil left the scene and doesn't want to talk about it to anyone (well not me anyway) Still have some good converstions with Dave Raistrick about his early days here too. Ian.

Grantham And All Things Historically Soul
Neil Olive & Dave Raistrick spring to mind, both have excellent collections of original vinyl and this was well before the days of CD's & vinyl carvers although acetates were around they seemed harder to get then carvers are today

Anderson Brothers Issue Copy
a very respected dealer/DJ told me about 2 years ago he had seen one but was told to keep very qt about it but was finding it hard to do so ( probably why he told me after a day,s drinking) by all the averages you would think if they did excist one would have turned up by now or at least whoever owns one would have revealed it to the waiting world.....but don't hold ya breath Ian.

Jm Auction Closing Prices 13th August
Betty Wright sells for around £100/130 on 7" pic sleeve, i bought a mint/mint copy for a ton a while back and thought that dear £5K+ for Jimmy Burns is way way too much, thought £2K about right for that these days Chico L a great record but never thought it that rare Ian.
-
Frank Wilson - Do I Love You - Uk Tamla Motown Demo
Would imagine there are a few alt takes as most recordings got back then and still do ! My demo & sleeve are framed up with an autographed pic y !! So what about all these rumours of 2 stock copies about to be revealed to the world Ian.

I'M GONNA CHANGE: Velours/ 4 Seasons ?
I was talking to Ritchie Pitts a while back and he told me both bands managers were friends and spoke a lot. One of the conversations was about "I,m gonna change", the 4 seasons had recorded it but their manager didn't think it suitable for a 45 release so asked his oppo if the Velours wanted to try there luck with it, they recorded it and it got a 45 release. Still not convinced with it the 4 seasons manager decided to just stick it the "New gold hits" LP as a filler . As an old Wigan boy it has to be the 4 seasons every time for me Ian.

Eddie Foster: I Never Knew
check if yours has any other markings that could have been covered, some copies did have the name scratched in by themselves to fool folk too !! if it has the record No as in 6311a, then it,s a bootleg, the original just had in 6311 looking at yours it looks real and a 1st issue meaning it,s worth £300+ Of course i could be wrong as well , looks good though. Ian.

Gwen Owens - Wanted And Needed
A lot of these did play with bad hiss, i have a minter that plays perfect, think JM sells it for £20/30 now. Ian.
-
Eddie Foster: I Never Knew
It did come out twice originally, 1st press with just "I never knew" in the run out ( as yours says !!) and the 2nd press had the label name & No in the run out. The boot has poor print definition in the silver writing, if you haven't seen them enough it can be hard to spot but held side by side it,s quiet easy. Your pic looks like it has good print, what else does it say if anything in the run out grooves ?? Ian.

The Northern Scene
YOU was at Stoke sat night Pete ???? blimey charlie , how did you get a leave pass Ian.
-
Barbara Mills - Queen Of Fools - Hickory Wd
JM did auction a WDJ last year i think, one of them is rarer then other, must be type set that identifies them apart, sure it went for over £150 Don't think it,s same as Jackie Lee - Darkest Days, as that WDJ came out a good few years apart which has made the 1st one rarest, QoF WDJ's came at same time i think !! if that makes sense lol Ian.

Smoove Feat John Turrell
Think it was played 1st at soul in the sun mate. i found a dozen copys in Nottingham a few months back, bloody awefull track imo. does get a few up, 2 months ago it got 3 out of 140 up dancing i suppose it will go ok at say "Skeggy" as it has the right tempo for upstairs, just not my cup of tea. Ian.
