I've got one for £50 if anyone needs it. 1st pm gets it. PS 550 isn't the wrong version it's the 1st one when they did it as a ballad.
  2. Thanks Mike, I heard Melvin davis was gonna be in Spain but I don't know where.
  3. Landing with a team of cricketers who like a bit of a stomp. Is there anything on that weekend, i think we're staying in Salu
  4. They were obscure when they started they played Hamburg for a couple of years and had a couple of poor releases on Polydor. It was their later brilliance that made them successful. They got rich because they were brilliant like Marvin, the Temps, Aretha etc you can't hold that against them.
  5. Great song ruined by a bland (in this context) backing. The Beatles were the best by a very long way. It's odd that the Americans appreciate that, including most black musicians, and a lot of people over here don't; a bit like us appreciating all those soul records that didn't chart.
  6. Good review Richard and I'm sure a lot of people agree with you, but as there's no controversy, there are no replies. Glad you had a good night out, I was in Mancland sorting out my lad as a student.
  7. No two were recruited for the performance as only two of the originals Irv and Sam were up to the trip. I think one of them was a relation.
  8. Yes, the Shaladons do a great version on either GWP1 or Larry Banks Kent CD
  9. Martha on I Can't Dance To That Music You're Playing because it mixes/morphs into a sax instrumental and you can't spot the join.
  10. He's right, different geezer but it could well have been cut in Colorado as Jimmy had his whole NOrleans band living and working up there.
  11. That's the one he told me about, yes somebody help me out please.
  12. Thanks, if you know anyone who's got it or the album I'd like to hear them. He lead a group who did a Polydor LP too.
  13. Thanks Lars, they both sound good. Jimmy actually mentioned a different 60s 45 of his on the label, I'll post up the titles when i find my notes. Any chance of scans and the flips too?
  14. Thanks Lars, i had a good talk with jimmy Jules and it'll probably put a few dollars in his pocket. It's very appreciated. Ady
  15. They loved it but one of the younger lads was keener to get to a lap dancing club!
  16. Cheers dave, where can I hear it? Ask your deep collectors if they've heard of a Jimmy Jules 45 on the label. Still haven't sent that acetate, it got buried, will send it when it emerges. ta Ady
  17. If anyone has either of these could they do me a copy or put it up in refo-soul, both sides would be good. Ta Ady
  18. They certainly did, we had a good time pre-Clee.
  19. No they weren't the Puzzles just wrote and produced their records, it's all in Fatback's Soul Shop CD. They weren't the Fantastic Puzzles either.
  20. I'd be intersted in seeing a scan of this if possible. ta Ady

  22. LATEST 3 KENT SINGLES - NOW AVAILABLE TOWN 135 Tell Me Baby - KARMELLO BROOKS / I’ll Never Stop Loving You - CARLA THOMAS At last a UK release for this massively in-demand captivating dancer. It was an unusual release for the jazz label Milestone but Karmello does have a cool sensuous voice and her self-written song has slowly built into a monster over the past 10 years. Carla Thomas’ Kent classic was recently deleted so it HAD to be made available again. Records like this are too precious to ignore. CITY 011 Country Girl aka Home At Last - LITTLE WILLIE JOHN / I Need Someone - LITTLE WILLIE JOHN The CD sensation of 2008 yields two 60s soul dance masterpieces that were crying out for a vinyl press. ‘Home At Last’ is the most infectious super-tempo rhythm’n’soul played out for the last couple of decades, while the classic Northern soul flip has HB Barnum’s arrangements written all over it. CITY 012 Let’s Talk It Over - SPENCER WIGGINS / Love Attack - SPENCER WIGGINS We finally have an official vinyl 7-inch of Spencer Wiggins’ ‘Let’s Talk It Over’. The two previous (unofficial) pressings have long since disappeared and the record continues to pack dancefloors. We’ve taken the opportunity to put his fabulous up-tempo version of the James Carr ballad ‘Love Attack’ on the flip. Avialable from all usual online and event sources
  23. Not me guv, i only played the Jackie Day side. Like any good record though it takes more than one listen in a big room with the Daleks singing backing.
