  1. I'm sure there are streams of consciousness and often contradictory but he would no doubt have argued his point well. I ain't got time to do it and don't feel strongly about it affecting his other great writing. He gave the scene a sense of self-worth, unity and pride in the early days. I'm not sure what you're referring to about Jagger but some of the Stones and Beatles, independently, looked up to him; which did little more than tickle him as he wasn't a fan of their music in the slightest
  2. Thanks, not the version we have though.
  3. The Jeff barry-Tony Powers song. I know Tony Williams, Ritchie Dean, Birdie Green and Larry Burns, I'm pretty sure there's another female one. Can anyone add to the list, we've found a nice male soul version that could be unissued but no artist given
  4. Nice one Pete, I think that's a very important column that I've not seen since i bought the mag. It's describing the Old Soul scene, in the main, that then became Northern Soul.
  5. Great thanks. I didn't notice at the time and I had the 45!
  6. Is the version of Rita and the Tiaras the long or short one?
  7. Thanks Rob, is the Laskey one unissued?
  8. Could be Mancha, it's a very different version to Tony's on Giant. Thanks
  9. All sorted folks, thanks very much for your help. Nice track but Godawful sound from the tape.
  10. Was on a Goldmine Groovesville CD 053 Could some kind soul send me an MP3 or summat and I'd like to see the credits and comments in the booklet too please. Cheers Ady
  11. Anyone know anything about him/her? He's the co-writer on the Four Sonics 'It Takes Two' and I'm sure I've seen his name on some other similar Detroit releases. Let me know if you have anything else with his name on please.
  12. Jackson, Mississippi soul singer Tommy Tate is in his final hours. His friend and producer Sam Kazery informs me he has visited him for the past three days in hospital and he is in decline. Sam would love to hear anyone's memories of this superb soul singer and songwriter on this site.
  13. As far as I know the 50 year copyright law which was changed to not include 1963 and after, applied to 50 years from the release date. If a 1961 recording was issued in 1963 then it wouldn't become available due to that law change. It's 50 years from the first commercial sale of the music. I'll try and find out about Universal's odd policy, maybe they were advised wrongly.
  14. Brilliant Richard, send them down and we'll be happy in the Smoke and Detroit! Thanks hugely
  15. Would any kind soul be able to lend us an Ex copy of preferablty Rose G, failing that Alcor? Priscilla would be pleased too. Ady
  16. You've got the job Paul! Same routine please. Cheers
  17. Could any kind soul lend me an Ex copy for a dub please? ta Ady
  18. I knew TB did The Beautiful Night, which he said was the only one he did. Surely he didn't rip off poor old Jimmy twice?
  19. Compiled by Dave Godin; who'd have thought!
