  1. Dave pulled the Chris Jackson for contractual and professional reasons. If punters are desperate to own a sound on a 7" to play DJing, why not stick the required side on an acetate, a double sider isn't much more than £25. I have no objection to DJs doing this with unissued Kent material once it's released as it helps promote the CDs and sales, the royalties of which will go to the right people. I used to buy boots before I knew better so I'd never criticise anyone for doing it. I just don't like the way they are sometimes given respectability by people of influence. Often because they are getting advetising or retail money out of it. Ady
  2. Sorry it's a bit of a blur, probably the Wirrina where once myself and Roger Stewart were rumoured to be squad; Roger was crestfallen. A-D
  3. There's a much better original version from Gary Paxton's tape vaults on "Boy Trouble" by the Fashionettes Ace CD CDCHD 1005. They're a black girl group and it's a finished version. Cheers Ady
  4. I only co-ran the Harboro all nighters with Tony Clayton when Ally dropped out to be a businessman, I never liked that school hall type venue. I also did one at Loughborough Town Hall with Tony and a couple at Peterboro. The Frollickin' Kneecap was the original 60s club in Harboro where I saw the likes of Brenton Wood, Zoot Money, The Family, Blossom Toes and the Ferris Wheel. It transformed into The Lantern for all nighters in 1970 or whatever year the Wheel closed because all the blocked up Mancs came down the night it was busted. The photo of me and a gang of skins on the cover of Right Back Where we started From Kent LP was taken inside at one of the Lantern all nighters. Ady

Great, I've been dyeing/dieing to get this one in. Hattie Winston's the receptionist in Becker, a not too terrible US sitcom with the main bloke from Cheers in it. Ady

OK so my memories pants, I probably heard it somewhere else (Randy most likely) and started playing it. But it sounds great to me and begs the Bonzo Dog question, can Blue men sing the whites? A-D

  8. One of us is mad then cause I've never seen it. And the doctor took me off those tablets a long time ago. I Think you lent me summat else.Gareth's lending me his thanks, I'll collar you for the other one later. Ady
  9. And has anyone got a copy on any label that they could lend me. Their palms will be crossed with silver (discs). Ady
  10. Nice speculating kids but it was 'The Temptation Walk' by the Pretenders who were actually the Larks. It's on the "Soul Of Money" Kent CD so you've probably got it Nick, in much better quality than what you heard on Sat. Manship has it for a grand in his book which seems a bit steep. Was the girl thing 'You Lied' by Marva Josie on Time. Carl Willingham plays it and the flip 'Later For You Baby'. Actually the ping pong ball wasn't in my mouth. Ady
  11. Bill and Will 'Goin' To The River' Checker wanted Ady C

That's it's 30th anniversary then. I'll double the price and give you £6 for it. Don't tell me anything else I sold you, I'll only get depressed. I can remember the UK Queen Of Fools issue as if it was yesterday. Ady
  18. Ian Levine once told me it had the best Northern Soul track ever on it. I like it but not that much, it's good pop Northern. Ady

He's a corker and it's a fascinating story. I actually sent him there to pick up some dosh I gave to a mate at Prestatyn, who was going to LA, for a single I bought off him (and to see if there were any old royalties lying around). Ady

"No offence meant, but I've never understood the attitude that implies "our music" is sacred, and that cover versions are the devil's work. " I like covers if they're any good, eg The Alan Bown Set 'It's Growing', but they should only be done if they add a new angle or put something different or better in there. Paul just hasn't got a jazz voice, it's as feeble as Madonna's 'American Pie' (or any cover by Blondie). Ady
  22. It could have been Bobby Wells 'the Psychedelic Theme', that was the instrumental to his great 'Let's Cop A Groove' that was from the same stable. It's dead good actually, I've been meaning to play it for 15 years. Ady
