  1. I'vein my head that this is to be my sign off record, after Bobby Hutton's Come see....and Esther Phillips' Just say goodbye...... One day....
  2. I'm guessing that this is way cheaper on UK than US - if so, what do I need to pay to get one?
  3. Jeez - just heard this for the first time ever (yes, I'm a kid soulie)......what a KILLER So then I look up how much it's gonna set me back - thinking a ton or two.........CHRIST - £1500+???? Wow. Yes! This is a killer and I'm gonna start saving now. Magnetics, Freddie Butler and Masqueraders are going to have to wait!!!!!
  4. I started out as a hardcore punk. I've got stacks of LPs with songs that are no more than a few seconds long. I've got a split Ep, where both sides are one second long (feat. Napalm Death and Electro Hippies). Beat that!
  5. Ha! I heard that you tore the roof off the place, Phil! Hope to see you sometime soon. Not gona be able to make it the the Floyd do, because I'm away djing at a soul do in Hamburg.
  6. Of course, and that's why I said it depends on the circumstances. I don't want to get into contract law, but you listing records on here and me saying I would like one is not a valid contract. It is only a valid contract if I offer to buy one at a price and you accept my offer. Auctions are different. If you offer and I accept, then we have a contract (assuming my bid is the highest) - that's why you get the contract warning everytime you put a bid on ebay. In this case, I am talking about a £200+ 45. Not something you would normally have multiple copies of.
  7. Depends on the circumstances. To my mind, it's wrong for a list to be put on here at the same time as listing the same records on ebay - worse still if the records are live on ebay before getting listed here. In my case, I saw a recent listing on here, offered a price, received and accepted a counter offer, and then saw that the exact same 45 had been live on ebay for nearly a week and had live bids. That is shitty.
  8. I got offered a record on here 2 weeks back, only to find th owner was already offering it for sale on ebay...... sellers can be as bad as buyers
  9. Still looking for these two (and Bobby Smith "Walk...."). They need to play well without undue surface noise (e.g. VG++ or better). Pls send me a price including registered mail to UK. Payment by paypal only. Thanks
  10. Would like to get hold of this, but not sure what a decent price is nowadays. What do you reckon? Easy to come by nowadays?
  11. Birder66 posted a post in a topic in Record Wants
Can't wait for this.....gonna buy the manship copy, unless someone has a better offer
  12. So after typing that, I thought it best to try and buy a legit issue....ordered a red ric tic from Manship; it arrived today and is identical to the 'boot'(?) I bought 15 years ago. The pressing is really strong untilt he end when the vocals distort. Scratched matrix etc. Now I'm confused.
  13. Ha! Maybe not on your radiogram!
  14. Most of the records were played with what might almost be described as a nail! I used to wash the termite crap off using hot soapy water, but find that baby wipes are the best thing. They shift anything!! But why do JA records sound so much better than US records? I reckon it must be something to do with the ambient heat in the pressing plant......or something.... or not!!
  15. Hi Phil I'm a bit stuck that weekend. Moving to Sheffield in the last week of the month. You never know, I might be able to wangle something. Hey, it was a shame not to see you at the Asher G/Duke Neville night. The music was fantastic, as you'd expect. Why can't I ever got hold of those exclusive Merritone instrumentals???
  16. There wasn't hardly anything worth much more than £25, as far as I could see. Artibella on JA was the best record, but the condition was shot, as I recall. It might have been a good intro for a new-to ska/rocksteady/reggae UK label collector, but there was nothing much there for a ska/rocksteady DJ, is my point. I'll concede that a collection like that comes up less than once in a blue moon, but on the whole the condition didn;t seem to be very good. Still lots of opportunity to double your money though.
  17. The delivery, the words, the melody and the comprehensive failure to fit with the overall vibe of the music....... You say Potato........
  18. There wasn't a single "big" record in that lot, as far as I could see....and there was a lot of bad condition stuff. That said, if you managed to get £10-20 on average, then you'd be quids in.
  19. Got to agree there. The vocal is complete and utter TOILET.
  20. I bought the exact same boot for £3 from Rob's Records in about '94, without the 100% conviction that it was as kosher as a salami.
  21. Ha! I just wanted to know if these are completely out of favour tunes, since they have a certain 'novelty/oldie' sound. Sidras theme is killing me right now and so I'm gonna have to buy it......Anybody got one for sale for less than Manship (sorry that this isn't in "wants"). There are three different issues, as far as I can see. What's the one to have?
  22. I see Manship has them both. Sidras Theme on Sidra 9007 for £150 and The Gallop on a Carla DJ for £75. Is that a fair price for these tunes?
  23. Sorry - yes, I meant The Gallop
  24. These two tunes are completely alien to the sounds I usually buy, but I seem to have been overtaken by them both over the last few months, when watching the outtakes to the Granada TV documentary THIS ENGLAND. I can't imaginbe that I;d ever buy them, because they just don;t fit ata ll with the other tunes in my box. Do they still get played out now or are they a relic of the final days of Wigan that most people would rather forget? Thanks
  25. Don;' really want to pay the issue price for this, but it's stuck in my head and I need to buy it!
