Shellac Or Vinyl?
Thanks for the info! These three are from 1960/1961 or so, but seems to be very brittle. Do you know if the Wikipedia info applies worldwide? A lot of things about the brazilian record industry seems to be at ends with the rest of the world so you never know.

Curtis Liggins - What It Is
Heard this at a venue with a good sound system for the first time about two months ago. Sounded extremely messy as the drums are mixed way too low. Decent tune for the living room or for radio plays in my opinion.

Shellac Or Vinyl?
Didn't really know where to put this question as it's slightly off-topic... I'm selling a couple of rare brazilian 78 RPMs on eBay at the moment by Chubby Checker and Elvis Presley and I just recieved a question about what material the discs are made of - vinyl or shellac... Does anyone of you know how to know for sure? I have limited knowledge about 78 RPMs and I honstely don't have a clue. Anyone?

Help Wanted And An I.d
Don't know the tune, but going by the title, could it be: Kevin "King" Lear - (You Got) The Power Of Love - PAGE ONE It does sound a bit "UK", if you know what I mean.

Puzzled By Prices?
That Supremes LP sure is superb! "5'30 Plane"... what a PERFECT tune! GIVE IT TO ME!!! I love most of the Jimmy Webb tunes which Glen Campbell recorded. Glen's "Reunion" LP from the mid-70s, almost entirely produced and written by Jimmy, is great! Have you heard Jimmy's own version of "Mixed-Up Guy"? Sorry, I'm rambling, but I could go on...

Another Version, Your My Baby And Dont You Forget It
Superb tune whichever version! I personally think the The Reflections sounds heavier/meatier and less teen/frat-band-ish. Here it is: 15866 refosoul

Any Info On Larry Mcgee?
Just realised that two of my favourite tunes are written by Larry McGee. Bill's "Space Lady" on DOLLAR BILL and also the Larry McGee Revolution's "The Burg" on BOOGIE BAND. Both labels are from Pittsburgh. Anything else out there that has got his name on it worth mentioning (apart from the other Larry McGee Revolution 45)?

Surely Not The Same Singer?
It's No Good For Me - ben e. king - atco lp Top notch depressing stuff! LP-only.
-
Surely Not The Same Singer?
It's Amazing - ben e. king - atco One of Ben's best recordings ever in my opinion.

Surely Not The Same Singer?
Forgive This Fool - ben e. king - atco Another more uptempo one.

Where's The Girl - ben e. king - atco

Surely Not The Same Singer?
A tune with the title "Gettin' To Me" is in the recording logs for Ben E. King's Atco material. And it sure sounds like him. He had an incredible vocal range and there are plenty of hidden nuggets amongst his Atco recordings. A fantastic artist in my opinion. Listen to the voice on the tune below.

Right On - ray barretto - fania 16134 refosoul Here's another Ray Barretto tune which has a habit of filling dancefloors.

Tuesday Tunes - Latin Soul
Yes, Ray Barretto's "Together" is on a US Fania 45. Not too easy to pick up nowadays though. Was also issued in France with a picture sleeve and I've got it on a Fania Peru 45!

Ramses Theme - ramses ballet - rkm 16097 refosoul 70s instrumentals... how about this one... better known perhaps as the instrumental to The Two Man Sound's "Que Tal America". Sounds amazing over a good sound system!

Monday's Sounds - The Arctic Label
Yes, that's the copy I got from you and yes, the soundclip is taken straight from the 45. It really does look like TOTAL hell though. It's one of the few issue copies as well that I've seen of "Love Addict", seems to be mostly demo copies around.

Puzzled By Prices?
In the cases of Wade Flemmons and Betty Moorer I totally understand it, especially since the falsetto lead on Impalas "Speed Up" seems to get on most peoples nerves. Darrell has always been cheaper and easier than Doni, hasn't it? Apart from the fact that it's rarer, it's strange that Doni goes for so much considering that Darrell's has got a far superior vocal (IMO ofcourse... ). Very strange with the Shane Martin though, the Jimmy Webb version has got a punchier, moodier arrangement and better vocals, and it's still a £5 record. He's one of my all-time favourite song writers and most of his own recordings are superb as well.

70's Dancers
Both Cecil Lyde and Jewel are MONSTER tunes in my opinion! Especially Cecil Lyde is on the "underplayed" side of things. Still haven't managed to locate myself a copy of the Jewel 45...

I'm Gonna Get Your Love - charles jackson - capitol 16048 refosoul Sounds very good when played next to King Tutt "You Got Me Hung Up". A bit tricky to pick up on 7" but not expensive.

I'm Gonna Get Your Thing (Get You) - lee harris - forte 16047 refosoul Here's an alternative version of the Marva Whitney tune, with different lyrics and vocals by Lee Harris instead. I think the Lee Harris take on this backing track is the best one out there, it was re-used at least 5 times by different artists on the Forte label. Lee Harris put out a tune called "I'm Gonna Get You" on SWAN under the name of Leroy Harris which has got the same lyrics as in this clip but a very different backing track.
