Stevens & Foster/stratoliners/chryslers & Monarchs
It got a release on a Soul Supply double abum called 'The Modern Soul Story' or something like that.If memory serves me right, there were a few other decent tunes on it,Flame'n'King,Pages,King Tutt,Larry Brown. A cheap option til you pick up the 'real thing'. Cheers Pete

Modern Tune Of The Year So Far
Hi Jock Good to have some backup.Them lot were bullying me You're right about the D.K.H superb album.'Move' being the obvious track off the album. Searling played a track off the Vivian Green album at Prestwich,he said 'one of the best things I've ever played' How many times has he said that ?? The Nate James,Steve Butler feat'g Ron Haynes,Avila Bros all sounded superb on a big system. There's a plethora of good new stuff about at the moment.I'm waiting for 'The Official Steppers' CD to drop through the letterbox any day now.there's a few cracking tracks on that. Then there's the House stuff. Kenny Carjaval,Glen Lewis,Steal Vybe,Ron Hall,Maxine Inness. I've got the Philly remix too,it's not very clever is it? Might have a few diehards turning in their graves though Cheers Pete

Modern Tune Of The Year So Far
Off the back of the 'Sound Of the Weekend' thread I feel moved to mention the 'Modern Tune' of the year so far. Unbelieveably it's tucked away as track 11 on a Scandanavian rap CD by the Duo Prominent-the track is entitled 'Step Into My World' Sounded great on a big system at Prestwich on Friday. Cheers Pete

The Great Cd & Soul Swindle?
I do think though that if anyone has the "preaching attitude" it is in fact the "modernists/crossover/tent enthusiasts". They come off as a bunch of "snobby soul twats" (SSTs) imo. Lost count of the number of SSTs who've tried to convince me that I'm living in the vinyl past, a throw back to the dinasuar age! Great post Dave By the way,how is the Soul scene in Jurassic Park thesedays? The Right Reverand Pete Roberts

The Great Cd & Soul Swindle?
Not another CD-Vinyl debate. This has been done to death on here. There are numerous threads on the site regarding this.Everyone ends up agreeing to differ. But that's just my humble opinion Cheers Pete

Hi Billy I would disagree with your modern selection.I would class them as northern, speaking from the modern side of things,I would be extremely disappointed to hear those tunes getting played in a modern room. Just my humble opinion Cheers Pete- Which Soul Artist Do You Want To Rave About?
Ron Hall And the Muthafunkahs-The Way You love Me-Hustle 12" Soulful house at it's very best, going to be massive,The next Ron Carroll ! Pete- Island Inspirational Allstars
Thanks Girth. One on the way Cheers Pete- Island Inspirational Allstars
I'm after an Island Inspirational Allstars-Don't Give Up Ta Pete- Motown Remixed
There's obviously 2 remixes of this then Simon, because I've just played the remix I have 3 times and I really can't find a likeness to 'Rising To the Top' unless you class any mid tempo track with a bassline as the same as 'Rising To The Top'??? The whole point of Motown remixed,as has been mentioned on an earlier thread, was to introduce a new generation to Motown sounds. 'Let's Get it On' is doing exactly that, getting lot's of plays, hopefully crossing over into the RnB/Nu Soul club's.Raising the profile of Motown, getting the younger generation to seek out the original versions. If I don't like a record or topic that is getting discussed on here.I generally ignore it.I don't tend to jump in saying it's piss poor, cos that would be pointless in my opinion Unless of course it was 'Peanut Duck' Now that is piss poor and pointless Pete- Patti Labelle ?
