I would recomend my old mate Rob kay from the Willington soul nights...amazing collection, can turn his hand to anything, 70s, crossover, oldies, R&B etc...amazing collection, mixes cheapies with rarities, has great taste....and he is a lovely guy too....should get a lot more bookings...he would never let you down... I guess my recomendation would be complete by saying I have asked Rob to DJ at my wedding for a couple of hours! Chris

This is like being talked about when you are sat in the same room! Thanks for the comments guys, much appreciated...... I do get quite a few spots but could always do more, especially at the more forward thinking venues. Still amazes me how i get comments about the adverts, I did 32 in total between 1997 and 2004 before i was replaced by bloody Bill Oddie. There must be some irony there as the first record i was ever bought (not gonna admit to buying it myself) was the Funky Gibbon by the Goodies! Anyway, even though i have`nt done an advert for 2 years not a soul night or nighter goes by without someone mentioning it! Ken, Sorry if i look miserable mate, Im ok when you get to know me! Chris
  8. Hi Guys, Ok, Christmas and new year out of the way, lets get back to the tunes! I`ve just had a tasty delivery of stuff from the US so expect to see some nice tunes on the lists in the next couple of months.I`m not talking mega rarities but some nice quality tunes! Don't forget you can now you can pay by credit card at no extra cost. If you don't have a paypal account just go to www.paypal.com and sign up, it's really easy. This has got to be the easiest way to pay, and to make sure you get your records quicker. I always try to grade records accurately although its impossible to play every record, that's why I offer a money back guarantee if not completely satisfied for any reason. Gradings are as follows; M-Faultless, probably unplayed, E- Very clean and a nice copy. VG - Used but plays through ok with some light noise, great for DJing with. Please order ALL RECORDS by email, first come, first served, however if you need to call me please do so.(01283 536359) P&P is £1.50 for up to 2 x 45 and £2.60 per LP, obviously cheaper if you buy more than one item. Please pay by cheque, cash, IMO or by using your credit card through www.paypal.com. PLEASE PAY WITHIN 7 DAYS or risk losing your reservation.IMPORTANT;WITH EVERY ORDER PLEASE INCLUDE A NOTE STATING EXACTLY WHICH RECORD YOU ARE ORDERING,THE RECORD NUMBER AND YOUR ADDRESS, FAILURE TO DO SO WILL DELAY YOUR ORDER .Please make all cheques out to C.Anderton and send to; C.Anderton,1 Jackson Av, Nantwich, Cheshire, CW5 6LL. 9. I`m no collector but if i was i would collect this label, love it to bits! I picked up a different version of "Aint no stoppin us now"... all about the Philly football team going for the superbowl...same track different lyrics. I have been playing and pushing the Ebonys "I`m so glad i`m me" lately. I met Phil Hurt a couple of years ago and asked him all about Anthony White, he said the company put lots of money behind him and really tried to promote him but it just never happened for him...... Chris
  10. I met the label owner a few years ago, got some nice stuff from him, Four reputations on Millage, Emanual Laskey DT etc....Odell Bailey, lovely chap...mad as a madman but lovely. He took us to his basement and kept telling us this was "my demain...this is my demain man"!! He passed away a couple of years ago... Chris.
  11. I have never seen the book of poems Mark.....I remember one time Shifty and I went out there 2 days apart cause he was DJing or something.....meanwhile i made my way to Chicago and was finding some great tunes, we were a day late picking Shifty up in Detroit and he stayed at Bobs place, went fishing together etc....When we picked him up he was well pissed off...just sitting around Bobs place listening to his stories....but he did manage to find a nice copy of Sam Nesbit amoungst Bobs junk stuff! Chris ps, and now you`re gonna believe us.....THE RAMS ARE GOING UP!
  12. I heard back from the Journelist tonight....apparently a lot of the stock has already gone but a lot of it is going to Bobs house, as previously mentioned. He said the date for the store closing was mid Feb..... Chris.
  13. I have no more details but will try and find out. Not too many of the old Detroit stores still going now, Cappy closed about 3 years ago... Chris
  14. Just had an email from a guy at the Detroit Free Press asking me for stories about Bob mayes record store in Detroit. The store is set to close in the near future. There cant be many people who have been record searching in Detroit and not been to see old Bob! I know Gilly has some stories about records being berried in the garden...just wondered if anyone has anything they would like to share... You can email me on chris.soul@btinternet.com if you want the address of the newspaper guy.... Chris
  15. wont the £30 records then be £50 and so on..........thats the way of it on the northernsoul record scene, you would finnish up with no cheap records how can this be good,£30 record nighter would be ok for a couple but a novelty and they will soon be bored. .................... Yeah, thats what i said Ken...as a collectors night, not a nighter and not on a regular basis...a one off! Chris
  16. Thanks for the info Guys, much appreciated.... Anything else to add? Chris
  17. I would have thought that surely the majority do??? ................. I disagree Tony, I think a vast majority dance to what they like and have no knowledge of the origins of that tune...nothing at all wrong with that. Can you imagine a paying punter on the night asking for something and you having to explain that it was`nt released on or near its actual recording date?...Do you think they will actually care?! My idea for a collectors night would be "All records played are currently under £30"! Now that would bring the crowds back... Chris
