  1. Just about recovered from a great weekend away at Piercebridge New Year Weekender. Chalky brought the New Year in fine style, courtesy of Terry Callier "I don't wanna see my self" I must admit there was a bit of trepidation on my part when Simon Harrison asked me to do a bit, as it's been a looong time since I've played a modern/crossover set, tried to stick to the plan mainly 70s/80s with a few of my faves from the 90s and even managed to slot a few 60s mid tempo numbers in, in no particular order over the friday night and NYE 10-11 both nights Brothers Guiding Light "getting together" Jerry Butler "one night affair" Jean Carne "if you wanna go back" O'Jays "my favourite person" Marvin Gaye "come get to this" Darrow Fletcher "Love is my secret weapon" Solo "blowing my mind" Randy Crawford "give me the night" radio edit Collen + Webb "give me a call" Ann Nesby "in the spirit" Harold Melvin "praying" Debbie Taylor "just don't pay" Philip Ballou "we'll be together" Detroit Spinners "I'll be around" Diana Ross + The Supremes "stormy" Sandra Wright "I come running back" Bill Harris "am I hot am I cold" John Edwards "ain't that good enough" Eddie Kendricks "date with the rain" Barbara Lynn "trying to love two" Jean Carne "don't let it go to your head" Sounds of Blackness "I'm going all the way" Maxwell "Ascension" Gerry Devaux "front of the line" Beloyd "get into your life" Innersection "I'm in debt to you" Edwin Starr "running back and forth" Stevie Wonder "another star" Brothers of Soul "I'd be grateful" Celeste Hardie "you're gone" Robert Parker "I caught you in a lie" Odds and Ends "let me try" Cornelius Brothers + Sister Rose "too late to turn back now" Patricia + The Blenders (lol) "just because" Moses Smith "keep on striving" PS my experiment to play funky edge/northern was an epic fail, as the decks were obviously pre-set to eject them off the decks Chosen Few "birth of a playboy" (I tried lol)

If you are still undecided about what you are dong to see the New Year in, there is still time to join us at The George Hotel Piercebridge. £30 for the full weekend pass, £15 for the one day. There are still hotels rooms at Scotch Corner at a decent rate and there will be transport back and forth to the venue. What's not to like, phenomenal feedback so far, see you there!!

Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas from everyone at Ashton Ukrainian Club. If 2023 is anywhere near as good as some of the memorable nights we've had this year, we are in for a Cracker(pun intended) Looking forward to welcoming friends old and new, for the 5th anniversary on saturday January 21st with extra special guest DJs Ted Massey and adding a "dab of soul" to the occasion Chris Anderton. It's gonna be a special night!! See you there!!

Just got off the phone with Harry and it sounds like we're in for a busy one. The ultimate blend of classy underplayed 60s soul mixed in 70s/80s/90s soul music aimed firmly at the dancefloor. Some great chill out sessions are planned for the afternoons on friday and saturday,so definitely a bit of something for everyone, what's not to like? The venue has undergone a refurb and looks the business , for what promises to be a memorable weekend!!

Well as we reflect on 2022 at Ashton Ukrainian Club with a huge sense of satisfaction, with some amazing nights and DJ spots!! We thank everyone who has made us your venue of choice on the third Saturday in the month, it really is appreciated, as we strive to bring a quality night out for like minded souls, in these uncertain times!! One thing for certain we won't be resting on our Laurels, as January 2023 sees the 5th anniversary for this great little club. To mark the occasion we have assembled another quality DJ line up for your dancing feet. Saturday January 21st is the date for your diary, we welcome the return of Ted Massey behind the decks and look forward to a rare north west appearance of Chris Anderton!! Ashton residents Chris Churm John Hillel and Phil Dunn complete a strong line up, to celebrate the event and a kick start to 2023!! As ever the night runs 7.30 pm-00.30 and just £5 pay on the door. Should be a great weekend, some great memories from Piercebridge and a chance to dust off some 12s and album tracks from the modern side of the spectrum and a few classy 60s soul for good measure. Not long to go now and quite a bit of interest in the event and a great way to see in the new year!!!
