Ian Levine 3 Hour Podcast Solid Soul Sensations
A pleasant enough way to spend an afternoon at work. Some of it I like, some I dont. As there is no scene at all in Canada I rely on this sort of thing so it is very much appreciated by me.

Soul Packs From Soulbowl Back In The 1970's
Soul Bowl packs circa 79/80 were definitely 25 quid. In fact I got a very nasty letter from a prominent member on here for padding out my sales lists with some of them. He actually took the time to highlight all the Soul Pack 45's and send the list back to me

Record Diggin And Shopping In Florida
Yes, flea market was still there in 2010 and I enjoyed about 3 hours in the blazing heat. If I was an album collector and could be bothered to carry it all home I could have scored a lot of very good 70's Soul albums.

Record Diggin And Shopping In Florida
Was in Fort Lauderdale a year or 2 ago. Re.the phone book approach, proceed with caution - I spent a few hours plotting a course of the shops in the area and only found 1 still actually in operation.I did, however hit a lot of garage sales on my travels. Cant really remember how far it is, maybe an hour on the highway but we did venture down to Miami Beach for the day and whilst there are a couple of stores in the town, not far from the beach strip I found no 45's but I did find the CD from Keith Rylatt's Detroit book for sale in one If you can get up to Fort Lauderdale there is a HUGE flea market (outdoor and indoor) with 1000's of records but mainly albums. I did pick up a few cheap Soul 45's and a pile of Beatles 45's - VeeJay, Swan, picture sleeves. I suppose it all depends who is there on the day. I found most outside and it really is HUGE. There was also a decent store in Fort Lauderdale, not far from the beach strip called Radio Active with a large selection of 45's and I did get a few more common things from there. They were supposed to be sorted but it paid to go through all of them. Where ever we go in the States I always try and have a day on the hunt but casual pickings are slim, especially in Florida.

Oh yes!!, they still have Canadian content rules. University of Toronto have a Funk show on a Friday morning and they still have to do Canadian content, even on that. I think it is 20% but not totally sure.

What Was The Last Bit Of Vinyl In Your Hand ?
Gil Hamilton - Move and Groove - Vee Jay. Came in a handful of 25 45's for 25c each from a local charity shop yesterday. Non Soul - Kwyet Kinks Ep - gift for the lad as he is a big Kinks fan - $2 from Record Show on Sunday.
-
Why Is This Going For So Much?
Possibly because it looks most like the original of all the pressings that have been done?
-
Bootleg Or Jamaican Ric Tic?
This 45 was purchased from a reggae dealers box at a show in Toronto. He had lots of other Soul things on Jamiacan press but this was the only one that "stood out". Hi Tony - sorry the pic does not do the label justice but it has that rough, un-finished look about it that JA presses have and also the untidy label edge.
-
Bootleg Or Jamaican Ric Tic?
Picked this up at the show yetserday and it has all the attributes of a Jamaican press, rough around the label egde, flaky looking label and smaller font size?
