  1. personally i wouldn't use vinegar or lemon juice as it could leave behind some residue. A good cleaning solution is a mixture of 4 parts diatilled water to 1 part iso propyl alcohol, just work this into the grooves with a clean brush and dry off with a lint free cloth. Or if you can't be arsed with that then pop down to Maplins and buy a can of Servisol anti-static spray, spray a small squirt onto the vinyl and rub round with a brush or cloth, it will evaporate almost immediately and if play it straight away the stylus digs all the crud out of the grooves, you won't have to do this very often, only if a record hasn't been played for ages. Try to avoid getting either the spray or i.p.a mixture on the lable , i've been using these methods for years and they really work well .
  2. beat me to it douglas! just about to post the exact same! the man was/is a soul genius who always delivers! my personal fave "is this the thanks i get". if you don't know it , you need to
  3. eh up chalky! been a while! might make it to lifeline one day!!!! as for Rod Stewart, went to a 70th birthday in june and they had a Rod tribute! bastard was on for 2 fookin hours!!! nearly topped myself . hope you're well mate, see ya soon
  4. i reckon "me and baby brother" was the funkiest thing they did,i know what you mean about "low rider"being cooler, always reckoned that was deliberately written as a cruising tune and not really as a killer floorshaker! by the way it was'76 not '73 and banbarra was '75, that was a really big funk record down south then, surprised nobody else mentioned it maybe it was regional?
  5. always rated "me and baby brother" by War, serious old school funk and also "shack up" by Banbara
  6. real one has a bell sound stamp in the run out grooves
  7. sorry folks but nothing is worse than Rod Stewart singing "people get ready". he murdered many a soul record but should be fookin hung, drawn and quatered for that!
  8. agree with the others that it's probably your stylus, but plesae, please don't put weights on the cartridge, even 5 p's! you will f**k up the record eventually, if you have to do that then something else is wrong, and it is usually the stylus cheers gary
  9. with you on that
  10. yeah, did a dodgy cover of new york skys "lets celebrate" i'm really going now byeeee
  11. cheers paul, a 30 year mystery laid to rest , i wonder if they were all miss pressed? suprised it was the jaln band, i thought they were black, they certainly don't sound it lol. off out now so many thanks again

  13. yeah i never said it was a good record, just would love to know what it is out of curiosity. think you might be onto something with matrix numbers though, 1-2-3 is mca 105 a-1 (as you would expect), b-side is mag 105 b-1u what d'ya think? mix up with a record on magnet? cheers
  14. mick, here's a sound file (i hope!) 01 Track 1.mp3 01 Track 1.mp3
  15. mick, i will look at trying to put up a sound file , not sure if i'll have time before the weekend but will try cheers gary
  16. yep, that's it mick, my b side is definately not "bullseye" as credited, give it s spin and see if yours is the same , you'll know straight away, "bullseye" is apparent from the first line (if i remember) and very sixties cheers gary
  17. mick, definately a uk reissue, maybe 2nd reissue??? not sure how to put up a soundfile
  18. it's on turbo, it was bootlegged in the 70's so be carefull!! i'm not sure what it's worth now but was fairly rare
  19. think it must be frankie crocker ton of dinamite
  20. in the mid 70's when i first got into the soul scene, i bought a re-issue of 1-2-3 (mca 105). the b side says it's Bullseye, but it aint!, it sounds like a 70's production, male vocal (probably blue eyed). now, i aint trying to say i've found a mystery fantastic modern unknown,it's okish at the best, but it's been bugging me as to what it really is for all these years so can anyone out there shed a light please?
