BSR tables, citronic mixer not sure of the number but def citronic, maybe a very early version of the hawaii console,Later versions came in a large purple carry case hence the handles to pull out of case,In later years type of deck was the norm for many mobile dj's

  24. A good point and well made, As for round 2,there was never a round 1 really,It's just my way of of trying to encourage the discussion, Something I say to my mates,To prompt them to reply, As for the thread,It's just something I thought of after looking at some of my old vinyl(non of them original I must add) And thinking that I would never buy some of them now,If I was 15-16 again, To be truthful I bought a real pile of cack in the 70's,Just to say that I had them and to be part of the"SCENE" I was only a kid and anything that had a Northern connection to it was cool, I was never and still are'nt a vinyl only type of person,If it sounds good, and it was good to dance to I would probably buy it,Cd, mp3,tape,vinyl, I remember running to our local shop to buy the Capreez " How to make a sad man glad" It cost 75p (most uk singles at the time were about 45p)taking it back to my mates house to play it,How much they all said,It only lasts 1 minute 57 seconds, Inky Dinky Wang Dang Doo,is another,I only bought it for the Woo bit,so I knew when to throw my arms up in the air,Would I or yourself rush to buy these songs now!! The point I was trying to make in this thread,Is that every track vocal or instrumental that has been played on the Northern Scene,Is not a classic tune, there are more good than bad to be true,But there are some real stinkers, The point about white / coloured artists is a no go area for me,The artist could be Pink with Green spots on there bums for all I care,If it's soul then that's what it is, Cheers and KTF Grant
  25. It's a hard subject this one in the view of what was bad / good, In my opinion tracks that did / do chart, all have there place in Northern Soul genre,Wether some of these tracks are really soul is a different matter,The Evelyn King track mentioned was a big track at the Ritz in Manchester,It was played mainly by the Mecca Dj's as a New York disco track,as were many others"Center City" by Fat Larry for instance, Many tracks like this also got played at Wigan and also went on to have chart entries, Who do we blame for this? "The People Who Bought Them", How many artists recorded songs thinking "I hope this record is a bummer, because it might become a Northern Soul classic in the future", How many times do we hear of singers / song writers dying in poverty,or living on benefits,The point of these artistes making these records was to try and live a dream and if lucky become famous,or at the very least to try and make a living out of what they loved,To be quite blunt about it they wanted to make some dosh!!!, I love Nothern Soul, but over the years I have become a bit pi**ed off with the "Its a commercial track that", They all started out with the intention of being commercial tracks, that was the point in releasing them! If you thought it was a Northern tune in the past then it still is now, As for shite records that is a different matter, Really hope I do not offend anyone with my opinions, but then again this is a discussion board,So let's discuss, Cheers ktf Grant
