Ortofon 2M Red cartridge and matching stylus is by far the best value for money set up! Reduces surface noise and scuffing on styrene presses and has an all around brill sound quality. Highly recommended! Thanks to Sebastian for the tip... Don't know how much Ortofon stuff is in the UK but I guess around 100 quid for cartridge and stylus?

Google's book search site is a pretty good start for getting release dates. If a certain record was featured in say Billboard magazine a result pops up. E.g. Velvet Satins was reviewed in Billboard magazine on May 8, 1965.

Paper sleeves they're selling fit very well. Also these card board covers fit in any record box, be it ADDA or aluminium flight cases. Never had any problems at all. Been asked by PM how to navigate on www.musictools.de here's my reply: "once you have entered the site, click on "single-zubeh¶r" on the left menu. then click on "single-cover karton" (karton is german for cardboard), ArtNr is 2002A. On the right site type in the number of sleeves you want to order. the site automatically leads you to your "warenkorb" (shopping basket), choose postage ("per DHL innerhalb EU, 19,99) and proceed payment from there. Postage seems a bit expensive but I understand it's a fixed rate so it shouldn't matter if you order 100 or 1.000 sleeves, it remains the same." cardboard sleeves are 0.25 EUR each, paper sleeves are 0.04 EUR each. You'll never stop learning! I always thought it was demo only and the last release before label went bust. What's on the issue's flipside? Same as on the italian release?

Here's some more info about the cardboard sleeves I've mentioned. Note the size, "UK" covers (e.g. Covers33.co.uk) are a few mm smaller. Single Cover, 300 gr/m² Chromoduplex-cardboard 80 mm middle hole. Colour: white size: 180 x 180 mm

Phil, what you're looking for already exists! Proper heavy duty card board sleeves, larger than the standard UK ones, no problems using paper sleeves or original company sleeves. see www.musictools.de site is in german so if you need any help just PM me...

I used to have a white demo that played absolutely fine, no distortion at all. Tho with it being a styrene press it might deteriorate pretty quick if not treated well.

VOR records is part of german based Moskito mailorder, all releases are fully licensed from Goldmine UK. They started approx 15 years ago issueing deleted Goldmine comps on vinyl.

Updated again. Some really nice titles left. Would prefer trading for uptempo Northern, either quality oldies or good lesser knowns...

Bank transfer in Euro currencies within the EUR-zone are free (from Germany). Bank transfers in Euro currencies outside EURO-zone but within the EU cost 25 cent (again, from Germany). Bank transfers in other currencies (e.g. GBP) within EU cost a shi*t load of fees. Thing is, it seems that UK based banks sometimes "forget" that Euro transfers are almost free of charge and deduct some hefty fees. Unless recipient slaps his bank managers fingers and demands pay back of the fees they get away with it.

I agree with you, custom record very likely. The backing is pure Detroit class yet the voice is rather 'thin', I'd even say Popcorn took an unused backing track from his vaults and dubbed her singing over it. I don't think he would made the effort to use a full backing band on ML.

Infact there is such a software, you can alter vocals, backing, slow down speed up whatever. If you know how to handle it you can gain some excellent results There's a whole CD of doctored "alt takes" been doing the rounds for quite a few years now. Some sound brill, some ok and some of these 'alt takes' are awful..
