Heh, as well as the cream of Bristol DJs, Hot Buttered Soul occasionally like to bring you the country's finest craftsmen .. so we're proud to present London's RED GREG ladies and gentleman, our very special guest DJ for July at Hot Buttered Soul. ** About RED GREG: Red Greg aka Darren Griffiths grew up in East London and got his first taste of DJ'ing around '85 after gathering a few records and listening to local sound systems and dj mix tapes from Froggy (RIP) and Derek B. (RIP) who were both DJs at his local club. Shortly afterwards he started playing Funk, Soul, Rare Groove, Go Go, House and Acid, however his love affair with Disco & Boogie didn't start until a few years later in '88. With an ever-growing collection and passion for the underground sound he met DJ Louis Heel at a London gig and the two launched their own club night, 'Ebonite', the night has become a huge success. Darren's depth of knowledge, diggin' passion and technical ability has led to worldwide DJ gigs including the revered NYC party 'Love Chant', plus Paris' 'Mona', 'Club Sandwich' and the legendary 'Maxim's'. More recently Darren has been approached by Joey Negro, aka Dave Lee to compile a forthcoming Disco/Boogie compilation 'Under The Influence', which is due for release shortly on his Z Records label. Red Greg has also been busy in the studio editing his favourite tracks, some of which have found their way onto vinyl, and onto his Hot Buttered Soul mix (download link below) .. ** So, expect nothing less than a soundtrack of high-end soulful Disco gems with a sprinkling of Boogie goodness to match and maybe one or two surprises. First up, Andres, Pato & Christophe aka Feel The Real Sound System who've been smashing up many a club + festival stage will be joining us with their good time, party rockin' tuneage. This month we are proud to present a very special guest DJ Zaf Chowdhry. No stranger to pieces of plastic, Zaf managed/owned Reckless Records in London for seventeen years. He now concentrates his time on his own website www.zafsmusic.com which sells high-end disco, boogie and soul records. His in-depth knowledge and love of the underground has led him to compile the whole of the P&P series on Sussd Records, as well as the Deep Disco Culture series. Look out for 3 new compilations out later this year on BBE & Kindred Spirits. Zaf has been playing parties worldwide since the 80s, but now chooses to play one-off gigs when the feeling is right.
