Hey Pete, hope your well buddy...........Billy Gee...........'kin top sound, traditional (ish) stompin' Northern Soul, not many traditonal sounding NS tunes left out there to be discovered IMHO, but this has got to be a potential MONSTER. Thanks to Adam for my copy & for sharing. Good luck with your search Pete & hope to see you soon. All the best Russ

  11. Remember 6th Anniversary & Sparky, not sure if he won it (anyone), but love the tune. Russ
  12. Love it or hate it a monster sound in its day..........I love it & I reckon this could be huge again second time around if someone had the watsits for it..........
  13. Here's another, this musta shook the Pier to its foundations, for me personally a WC memory, but again I've not heard out for years.........
  14. I had not forgotten this, but havnt heard or listened to it PROPERLY for many years, the memories came flooding back & for me this is one of the records that epitomises Northern Soul (Not Soul).................fantastic production, great voice, pounding dance beat & yes, she was a babe too, soo here ya go, wallow in Northern Soul nostalgia for a moment..........
  15. So Chris, with all due respect, when you were going to the Torch you were listening to stuff you had known for years all Night then ???. Russ
  16. Hello mate...........I'm envious, stuck in Baghdad............but I'll be back soon with a vengeance, in your previous post you described my ideal night, wot a proppa Nighter should be like. Russ
  17. F*ck me, thats the most sense I've heard anyone speak on this subject for a long time, EUREKA !!!............Terry your a genius. Russ
  18. Whats the difference between Rare Soul & Northern Soul ?, arnt they one & the same thing, unless of course your looking for a derogetery term to class the current 'proper' NS scene, the one everyone was part of back in the day, but most seem to prefer to wallow in nostalgia these days instead............nowt wrong with a good oldies night now & again, but what we have now at Lifeline, 100 Club, Bidds & a handful of others is actually the essence of what the original NS ethos was & should be about IMHO. rUSS
  19. Great thread Ian. All these are great records & worthy of an odd play at an occasional SOUL NIGHT, but with the exception of maybe Tee Fletcher, not a chance that any of these would make it big at a Nighter in 2010/2011, non of em !!!. Dont know the Bobby Hutton so cant comment. One of the records I would like to see eventually make it large, would be Queen Yhana, I have championed this on & off for years &it became quite a popular sound at my Uptown Down South promotions a few years back, but whilst not unknown, it has never caught the imagination of a DJ popular enough to do it justice, might just go one day tho, particularly as that more funk sound seems to be better excepted recently........................the cry will be 'Its DISCO shite' I'm sure, but I reckon this could have its 15 mins of fame on a dance floor near you given half chance. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GQaznBxku-Y Larry Levan, Paradise Garage heaven.............think I might be slightly too ambitious expecting this will get heard out more, but hey ya can dream I spose.......... Russ
  20. Thx buddy, now sorted. Russ
