  1. Agentsmith posted a soul guide event in Soul Nights

The Hole In The Wall Soul Club presents the 3rd in an ongoing series of quarterly events, at St Mary's S.C. The emphasis very much on absolute top rank oldies, plus many forgotten of that ilk, relatively/semi unknowns and a host of rarities with a dash of unreleased material too...add in the spice of some current crossover tuneage and it's a mix n match occasion to rival anything in w.yorks! We're putting together an essential guest dj roster, thats constant in turnover and dosn't replicate continually. This particular line-up promises to despatch only the highest quality of tunes to suit the dancefloor and soulie patronage is already growing!....last event literally a full house. Plenty of free parking, spaceous dancefloor and adequate seating BUT....BE EARLY to acquire what you need in both circumstances as this function will be EQUALLY BUSY! MORE DETAILS TO FOLLOW:

A wonderful afternoon and evening of music for the crowd who attended, could've been better in that respect but then folks do still work, even pensioners!, nevertheless a big THANKYOU to all who came along and took in a fabulous selection of music from 10 purveyors of quality tunes, a good sprinkling on the rare stuff amongst the sets and lots new to the ear as well..a big UP👍 To Don Forbes and Dave Stubbs for getting the event on and slme decent sound equipment to boot!, and the obligatory informative right here to try and entice people out, as always. Shrewsbury has a pretty long and feserved reputation for soul events in the country, as does Shropshire on the whole and has had a fair shared of outstanding venues over the decades..the message and emphasis on that is still very important even now. A Big thanks to ALL the lads who deejayed listed above, and special thanks to Steve Thomas and Lydia for making a pretty arduous trip from Anglesey amongst all the returning holiday makers and their caravans, to get to the Claremont, get settled and then the man delivers an outstanding set in his inimitable fashion...brilliant!. Hopefully this occasional gig will have another date coming up soon, definitely entertaining and worth paying a visit here for that fact alone.😉👍⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Just a heads up as we approach the weekend. It being the first Bank Holiday of 2025, and the longest ( 4 days ) and probably most popular, Shrewsbury is very much a destination town, full of history, lots going on and extremely busy with tourists and traffic. Anyone looking for accommodation, i've already listed the best, occasioning the fact they have parking facilities, mostly in with the cost of rooms. Listed here are their geographical positions in relation to the town, 3 are within walking distance, the others between 10 and 15 mins from town centre. For that purpose ive also provided here the main municipal car parks, again short walking distances from the venue. ABBEY FOREGATE IS FREE ON BANK HOLIDAYS ST JULIAN'S & FRIARS: HALF PRICE ( 60p per hour ) FRANKWELL & RAVEN MEADOW may differ, also there may be a max all day payment but, theyre large car parks so there should be plenty of space....as always, best to arrive EARLY, as the function begins at 13:00pm!😉👍

R.i.p. Ted Massey Personally, i met him first early 80's, busy collecting uk releases, bought a few off me. Think he was already djing for a while by then but early days. Ted scaled the heights essentially, on pretty much most of the platforms that count. He bulit himself a wonderfully colourful and intuitive collection of records, that cemented his reputation with the masses...much in the same way that he nurtured and cultivating his beloved garden...his other great past time....even the shirts showed him as an outgoing person...and he coloured our worlds with his dj sets. I can't justify giving the people concerned who performed such an abhorrent act against him, any creedance other than to say...i sincerely hope you search your consciences. It's a black day for us all, but in remembrance in coming days and weeks, we'll celebrate the life and accomplishments of this man and uphold nothing but good memories of him. Gone before your time May your soul now rest in eternal peace God bless, Ted🙏

The full line-up of selectors for this forthcoming Easter festival of soul, a truly esoteric climax to a Bank Holiday Monday!!..music that's good for the mind, spirit and the body moves!!🎵💃🕺🎶 Roger Dean, Don Forbes, Rob Haigh, Steve Thomas, Dave Allen, Paul Rousell, Brian Taylor, Dave Stubbs, Brian Chidley, Nik Krneta. An array of astute and avid collector/djs, time served on the scene and still kickin' it...all ready to bend your ears, necessitate chin stroking and or get some serious shape throwing with tunes covering the decades and genre's: known, little known...and even unknown ( with the obligatory c/up here and there ) but ALL in Invariable good taste!
  10. 10 of the very best djs there are, RIGHT HERE!. A proper festival of soul across the board covering a variety of venues from previous decades, all done with eclectic taste, and attention to detail when it comes to getting the floor moving with frantic feet....still some very athletic sixtysomethings in attendance here...music to keep the mind, body and spirit alive!😉👍🎵💃🕺🎶⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

If you're planning to attend and coming in via car: parking at Abbey Foregate ( bottom end of town by Asda ) is FREE on Monday. A large car park, about 10-12 min walk to venue. St Julian's & Friars ( just off town walls by BT building ) is 60p an hour but there is also a max charge for all day. Kingsland Bridge ( adjacent to Town Walls ) has limited parking £5 for all day. Baker Street car park is next door to venue. Quite pricey at £2:80 an hour!, not sure if there's an all day charge allowed on there. There's also an NCP at the rear of Premier Inn on Riverside, 5 mins from venue.

The man who puts together soul events in Shrewsbury and Shropshire, from time to time, and a veteran of the scene, DON FORBES. very knowledgeable and intuitive, always looking to invite guests with collections and not necessarily current djs...which has to be a good format. Definitely should be in for an interesting afternoon/evening of quality soul from the dead good rare to plainly obvious classics brilliance...bit of a melting pot of all thats soulful!.😉👍
