think you've got them both on the reggae thing pete, they are, however, walking encyclopedia's and the most likely people anyone would refer to if the guide books don't list it.

tim's the man...but i would say that wouldn't i?....particularly as he's a good friend, he's also intellectual and an in depth mine of information where both of his hobbies are concerned. of course he's not going to please everybody, much in the same way as the maligned ian levine, but he sticks by his guns and his words. oratory probably dosn't interest the masses much, i'd imagine the attention span of a gnat springs to mind, but please don't think i mean that a derogatory manner. a good many just want to cut to the chase and there's nothing wrong with that, but what he does say is well thought out and informative and very rarely off the mark. as a matter of fact, i haven't read his commentary yet so i'll reserve judgement on any of the negatives so far expressed...each to his own as they say!.

a breathtaking tribute....a remarkable voice....a unique human being...the celestrial heavens ring with his name, our lives were richer with him, without, we are left blessed with an enduring legacy. marvin was indeed, a member of clutch of people who are visited upon us once in a blue moon...and many of our generation have been fortunate to witness virtually all of them in that short period of time. mighty, mighty the dells certainly were, and are...marvin junior helmed them to success and an eternal place in musical history. god rest your soul.

you'd better believe it steve, amazing venue, great dancefloor, wonderful people and andy & jaycee have got it right like so many other thinkin' man's music venues...keep the line-up turnover fresh so anyone who's got some tunes to play , gets a look-in...the playlists will always be different. never been to york before but won't forget it in a hurry and i suggest anyone else reading this trip should take a hint and check it out...if this venue holds 200, its heaving!....can't reiterate enough how we all enjoyed playing from the boxes, no descrimination, just quality soul from the heart.

phil mate, that is one f**k off set!, pardon the language....couldn't help but notice the marmite tune slipped in there amongst an a-z of rareities looks like yorks were blessed with all the quality music all over the county on sunday

why oh why, isn't darrow fletcher's "infatuation" a monster tune?, reiterating the fact the lyrics are so clever and the backing track is sort of off the wall, touch jazzy but distinctly detroit and james bounty's "action" is also destined to have it's time, great advocate for the crossover rooms, yes i appreciate they may have already been round the block but there's plenty who are still unaware, and that applies to so much of the cheapo stuff advertised on here.

thanks bro, much appreciated, some of the other guys collection though blew me out of the water...that made for a really good all-dayer, like i said in reviews, just a small but very appreciative crowd and all monies went to a good cause so a big well done to andy and jay cee.

cheers dave, fortunately you know more than me!, i wouldn't have been surprised considering russ's penchant for somewhat obvious pop tunes but, it does have the trademark stamp of both h.b. barnum and david axelrod and you dont get much better than that on the west coast ( mirwood aside ). always liked this tune but that goes for her version of "what" which is an immense production. can i just add again that there were outstanding sets from all involved and i hope that they get posted asap.

i paid £30 for the goldmine cd northern soul of los angeles vol.1...and yes, i agree, the very early one's are long since deleted.. ( whoever thought we would ever say that word about those shiney thingy's ? ) and, are going to be very collectable...infact the hipo compilations are way out in front already, value wise, simply because they are limited and numbered and to date, i think the only one that has been reissued due to demand or whatever, is the david ruffin cd. just cast your minds back barely 4 years and the boxed set for 1966 is sold out and fetching ridiculous prices on ebay.
