  1. Point 2, paypal as gift, this happens in about 5 of every payments I get, people just don't realise that when you send it this way, it removes your address details then when you ask them for it they're quite sure it was included in the payment. Point 4, non paying buyers, the bane of every dealers life...
  2. I asked him this morning and he honestly couldn't remember what year but he said that 'Vernon' won the dancing competition
  3. I have had it, I"ve got it now, I reported it way way above on this topic
  4. The Edwin Starr record is great, was actually a fairly big record for a month or so in 76, remember it being on the first tape I ever recorded at Wigan. Strange how they used to do that, play things for a month then drop for no reason (e.g. Marvin Gaye - Bitter Pill To SWallow)
  5. You're talking about Pat Powdrill mate, I'm talking about Reggie Garner! Pat Powdrill first play mid 1977 by Pep and Richard I think. Too fast for most.
  6. One of the biggest records of 1975
  7. No such thing is there? There's a dark blue label bootleg but thats credited to Lainie Hall. Only copies I"ve ever seen have been the usual New Voice label.
  8. Not that many people wore those mega-baggy Spencers but most did wear baggies, but so did most of the young people in the UK. Long leathers were de rigeur.
  9. It's not 79, it's 80 or 81 for sure.

This was a £15 UK label collectors record for as long as I can remember then about ten years back someone actually started playing it and it shot up in price, going over £100 at one point, I struggled to get £50 for the UK Page One and US Pow ones last year though.
  11. If you want to know the exact date, I'll just ask my mate who took the photos - simple.

Because it's 100 times better than the vocal version. Said this before, I'd forgotten there WAS a vocal version until the scooter boys started playing it, had a good ten years with the instrumental. Nobody touched the vocal.
  13. Wigan! See, the mists of time cloud everything, records were played at all of the venues, in most cases it's impossible to say where they began.
  14. years before but was a massive reactivated oldie and was even booted
  15. It was a big Wigan record, that and Larry Santos always used to turn up back to back on Emidisc via Pep
  16. Sold the issue for £25 recently, was surprised as thought it was rarer than that.
  17. Mr. Anderson has sent me some information on this record which people may find interesting.. HI PETE–I'VE BEEN READING ABOUT THE 7 DWARFS––I STARTED THIS RECORD –WE HAD 600 ORIGINAL COPIES THAT I BOUGHT IN A DEAL IN PITTSBURGH FOR 50 CENTS EACH –AROUND A 100 COPIES WERE THROWN IN THE SKIP BECAUSE THEY WERE OFF CENTRE–IT WAS A RECORD OF IT'S TIME–DOESN'T SOUND VERY GOOD NOW.ALSO BACK TO THE EDDIE PARKER I'M GONE SAGA–––BACK IN THOSE EARLY DAYS I USED TO GO TO PITTSBURGH A LOT––I HAD A FRIEND WHO BOUGHT RECORD LOADS AND ALSO COLLECTIONS WHEN PEOPLE WERE SELLING UP––YOU COULD ALWAYS COUNT ON THERE BEING A MAJESTICS-I LOVE HER SO MUCH AND AN EDDIE PARKER-I'M GONE IN THE COLLECTION SO THESE TWO RECORD MUST HAVE SOLD AROUND THE PITTSBURGH AREA–THE COPY THAT SOLD ON EBAY A FEW YEARS BACK CAME OUT OF A COLLECTION LIKE THAT.JOHN
  18. Chalky, I have a 2 x C90 recording of Clifton Hall Rotherham around this time, if anyone wants to hear it I'll sort it out.
  19. Both of those are reissues Jim, the original has a 6 figure catalogue number (my old copy below)
  20. I'm selling one of these for £8 at the moment!
  21. I finally got my 4th Anniversary tape back this week and it features Alan Rhodes spot followed by Pep's, both of them play Marva Jones but it rarely got played after that really...thought it would go huge.
  22. Need to mention that moderators have split the topic, it was about a live recording I had of the event in the title, which is available to download from my website www.rare-soul.com, there's a sound clip on there as well. Ric Tic Review Hinckley 21/1/83
  23. Dunno why but I can't get those first two to open
  24. Okay I have to eat my own words here, I have two copies in my hands, one is thicker vinyl with dark yellow label, and the second is thinner vinyl with a lighter yellow label, yet I believe both of these are bootlegs, reason being that in the run off groove you can see bubbling on both of them, and there is no stamp in either, also the "E" in DamE Francis is filled in on both.
  25. This tape has JJ Barnes, followed by The Marvelettes then Edwin Starr live, MC is Chris King, does this ring any bells? Both acts sound out of tune!
