I sold a WD set-sale on here about 4 weeks ago. It was £1000.

This shop I emntioned above, Goulds, everyone always says that so-and-so was available in soul packs but I remember all the ones I bought being useless. However about 2 months back when my brothers wifes mum died, they cleared out her house and he gave me 30 records that one of the sons had bought, still in the respective Goulds bags, I got an unplayed Derek Martin on Sue and an unplayed Four Voices on Voice (not the rare one, the other one) and loads more, definitely from soul packs.

Don't think I've ever seen the alternate design but I know I've had two swirl ones this year and they've been a bugger to sell. You often find them in collections round here, I've even seen one in a non-soul dealers box at Wton record fair recently, so a lot must have been around at one point (Gould's soul packs I bet!)
  5. Quite often they have no labels to start with - they are played and sold as blank pre-releases, by the time they get a proper release the buzz has died down which is why you see more blanks than proper issues on Jamaican 45's. Over here, a lot of the labels were defaced simply so that rival sound systems couldn't find out what the tracks were. I've got countless records with the title and artist scratched out...even common ones like Desmond Dekker - 007, meaning at one time it must have been quite exclusive
  6. Don't make a lot of difference when I'm playing a 45 year old ska record which has never seen a sleeve and sounds like bacon frying anyway
  7. I'm just on about records I record off the usb deck onto my pc - but if I download albums from whatever dodgy site, I've never noticed that the sound is anything but normal..
  8. Yeah I reckon 60 or 70 now, but this one's a used copy so adjusted the price - was a Wigan spin back in 76, then forgotten
  9. I can't hear any difference at all between mp3 and wav recorded in high quality
  10. The Stingers - I Refuse to be lonely - Stax VG+ 30 E Rodney Jones - Peace of mine - Tuff issue VG++ plays great 70 The Ojays - No time for you - IMperial W demo EX 35 cheers Pete

I'd buy them all off you mate, really good titles, but nobody is buying anything off me so it's all pointless!
  12. Never understood why this album is so rated, 2 good tracks and loads of filler, some Coulter-Martin pop as well.

The only problem is - it only reports auction prices and therefore these are not accurate figures! If several people want the same record it goes for much more than it would on set-sale

All depends who you ask to be honest. So if I were you I'd wait til you get four or five replies to this then work out an average. Personally, I'd sell them for 150, 80 and 80. Wooden Nickels is rare. Constellations isn't rare but has had it's price inflated falsely. Frances Nero has always been around and although on good days you can get 100, it doesn't happen very often.
  15. Well it's not likely to is it now you've thrown down the gauntlet, as we speak I am organising a gang of crack musicians to appear on my first production including my 20 month old son on biscuit tin percussion, which is far more preferable to electronic percussion anyway. I do know what you mean though Chris, except you can't expect everyone to show respect to someone who doesn't show any to anyone else.

Who cares what anyone else thinks, it's not one of my favourites but it's perfect Northern Soul, great to dance to, breaks for clapping, catchy tune...

Well there's two separate series - one from 75 and one from 78-79 - first lot were all Soussan Mirwood things, second lot included Garnet Mimms, Holly St James, Herb Ward, Jackie Forrest, even Karen Young!
  20. Not sure how much this is worth, in my day it always used to be £75, anyway the bad news is, this got left in the sun and now has a warp, a big one, though it still plays perfect - I don't know whether to have a go at flattening it. I'LL LOVE YOU FOREVER - EX MAKIN UP TIME - VG+ clicks a couple of times £30 anyone?
