Good, granted I do slag of stuff because I'm an armchair bigot but in this case I did no such thing and would never do...it was just the use of the word Wigan that I was mentioning
  2. No it's different mate, it's like he did one take, then they said do another, but it didn't wipe of the first one, really bizarre...I'll see if I can find it, I had it a while back so probably recorded it
  3. OK I have got it, A side is called "Joy" (Lamont Dozier composition) and it's a disco-type thing. The other side is a Bobby Womack song, "Trust Me", a ballad. Produced by Martin Rushent who did The Buzzcocks stuff! Sample enclosed (just 30 seconds) walker.mp3
  4. I'm sure I've got that last one and it's terrible. UA demo. I'll go have a look.
  5. I also didn't know that was Judy Mowatt singing please keep up my lessons Tone! Also I guess you know this but the other side - Dave Barker - She Want It - also came out on Escort in a kind of weird version where he sounds like he's djing over another version of the same track, it's a right mess

I'm jealous alright - of the people who actually got to see it.
  7. I had no idea it was a cover! Whats the original called? (Same?)
  8. Pete S replied to a post in a topic in All About the SOUL
Here you go Paul, this is what I actually said: I really regret never seeing it and I only heard good things about it so I'm not slagging off the play for a minute

You ought to read the whole thread before shouting your big mouth off Paul
  10. Managed to get another copy of this beauty, condition is EX with a couple of little marks and one or two small pops, nice clean labels, very tough to get reggae label items in this nick and of course this is a cracking SOUL track. Offers over £50. NOW SOLD
  11. The question should really be "what's the rarest bootleg pressing" because these freaks who pay silly money for pressings on ebay are just mugs. People seem so shit-scared to actually put their own prices on things nowadays without consulting a price guide or a web site. John & Weirdest bootleg is worth £30 tops, Yum Yums the same.
  12. And it was only when you sold it me that the terrible truth came out

I was trying a new tactic Bogue, being diplomatic
  14. Don't ever believe a word Mick says, he'd have had one for years by then (I know this because he scanned me loads of his records for me to use when I used to do the Beatin Rhythm magazine, usually accompanied with a note saying 'bet you haven't got one of these') n.b. I think issue 2 has a cameo parkway special and all the scans are in that issue - it was 18 years ago now so I'm not sure exactly
  15. A bit light and fluffy but pleasant enough - comes in a cracking pic sleeve as well
  16. Got quite a nice and probably obscure double sider you might like, not really Northern but classic girly sound, will post it up in a minute
  17. Yeah I'd love to know what the story is with the US one, I've never had that record on US, why's it so scarce, why was it only pressed on the one coast etc, and what about the runmours that it was recorded in the UK!!
  18. Here it is then, paid around £140 for this yesterday, amazed to see it's an issue and not a demo so someone actually bought a copy! Still the first time I've ever seen it, I've had a lot of rare records, I remember it took me nearly 30 years to find a Matt Lucas, this one's also 30 years worth of looking
  19. Micks in Spain mate, I'll ask him when he gets back
  20. Pete S replied to a post in a topic in Record Sales
Kinnell mate if I could afford to I'd just lend you the money, when someone wants a record this bad I can relate to it totally. But I've got to be able to make a bit of profit to justify buying...
  21. Don't think there is a bootleg of this, the CSP one is the only reissue as far as I know. The Jim Webb version also came out on UK CBS, it's great!
  22. In the bin hopefully..
  23. For a start, CP is a Pye label and they were massive and had huge distribution, so they are certainly going to make a lot of demos. Philips issued no demos at all during the mid 60's, just stickered ones, after that they put out as many as others in the polygram group (polydor/philips/mercury/fontana) but their distribution was obviously very poor at the time. Chubby Checker was selling records in 1961 but by 1965 nobody knew who he was, the Beatles had obliterated him and all of the other US imports and even Elvis was barely selling a record in 1965 so I bet if they had the figures that it would have sold less than 50 copies, seriously.
