There was a copy of that in those 50 records for 50 quid packs I did the other day (which nobody bought)

Only graded at EX- because of some very very quite pops right at the start, most would grade this at EX and not even mention it JOHNNY LITTLEJOHN - 29 WAYS - TDS EX 75 SOLD My favourite R & B record I think, uptempo blues stomper, very highly recommended. This is the track I put up on Soul Source the other day. FRANK LUCAS - JANITOR OF LOVE - MHR EX 40 Fairly pleasant modern track but not quite my cup of tea. Arranged by Monk Higgins and written by someone called V. Pea! HERMAN GRIMES - IT'S BETTER THAN CRYING - T & G VG 15 Not pretty! JACK & JACKIE - DON'T BOTHER TO CALL - COOKIN' EX 25 Not sure quite how ancient this is but it sounds like about 1959 - R & B rocker CHANCE EDEN - ANOTHER LOVE - ROULETTE EX 25 If you ever wanted to hear Elvis crossed with Roy Orbison performing over a brilliant Northern backing, here's your chance! JIMMY LEWIS - LET ME KNOW - UK MINIT M- 25 SOLD Beautiful copy, great stomping Northern JAMES BROWN - PAPA'S GOT A BRAND NEW BAG - UK LONDON TEST PRESSING M 60 This is an absolute stunner, blank yellow London demo label with typed credits, this pre-dates the official demo copy. The B side has just a blank London label. Fabulous condition and a really lovely UK collectors piece. 4. Weird, I didn't even know this existed on this label!
  5. Put the Birds Birds on Ebay, you'll get a great price for it, I sold one must be 7 years ago and got £250 for it way back then.
  6. NON STOP OLDIES SESSION No surprises here so label spotters and chin strokers may wish to look elsewhere for their musical kicks...put simply, these are part of my collection of all time favourite oldies which I spin from time to time to cheer myself up, mainly sounds which were big from around 1972 to 1978 but with a fair few from after that. Have a listen anyway, these will get your feet tapping if nothing else. 100% Northern Soul oldies. REGGAE & ROCKSTEADY PARTY Some great 'old school' reggae and rocksteady from the mid 60's to very early 70's - classics from Trojan, Treasure Isle, Amalgamated, Pama, Island and all those other legendary labels. Find them both at https://raresoul.mypodcast.com/index.html just click the triangular play button next to the speaker icon
  7. And thats why you don't win! You should never bid til the very end - use a sniper, 5 seconds from the end...cos I've got a snipe set on that one as well (this is what made me bring the subject up, seeing it there today)
  8. It probably is actually. Stateside one on my list next week!
  9. Who's the girl Tone, Julie London?
  10. Pete S replied to a post in a topic in Look At Your Box
Sunday - Ain't got no problem - 2 or 3 at least every week
  11. Like every time I see a copy of Determination by Dean parrish, I always bid on it despite having it on Stateside and Boom. I just love it and it's relatively cheap. There are others.
  12. Black and white label?? Real or not... https://cgi.ebay.com/HOAGY-LANDS-THE-NEXT-I...1QQcmdZViewItem

What about something like Jack Montomery - Dear Beloved, this must have sold thousands of copies as it's up there every single week.
  14. Pete S replied to a post in a topic in Look At Your Box
Sandpipers - Lonely too long - Giant - from being a couple of times a year sale to a weekly one
  15. Pete S replied to a post in a topic in Look At Your Box
The Ideals - Mighty lover on either label, especially the purple one, why this goes for more than 50 quid beats me, it's not rare, it's never been rare, and there is a least one copy on ebay every single week.

Don't agree, especially when the album is a new release and has yet to get into the publics conscience, if you know what I mean, like The Raven was when I saw them. Also I saw Gary Numan on that Telekon tour on the night of the day the album came out, so I had to buy it from HMV in town after I left work at 4.30, go home, get ready to go out while listening to it and trying to remember the songs, then back up to town to get the train to brum for the concert, which to be honest was a bit shit compared to the one the year before at the Civic (pleasure principle tour). Though if he played in Wolvo I'd consider going to see him.
  17. I'd say 40/50 for the Canadian one but it's very tough to sell!
  18. Pete S replied to a post in a topic in Look At Your Box
The only time I went to see The Stranglers, The Raven had just come out and they played the entire album and none of the 'oldies' we'd come to hear, selfish bastards, they did two oldies as encores then f*cked off, they went down in my estimation after that. Anyway, first albums the best...
  19. There must be ten different boots of Gloria Jones. Just ask him what co,our the label is to start with. Soul twins never booted but reissued legally by Atco in the early 70's. Deep blue label with small label name Karen at the top.

Seriously - this is what I think - I've had people telling me that all reggae sounds the same for nearly 40 years now. And I just tell them that they are obviously missing something that I'm picking up. It must be the same with this kind of soul music, I'm just not getting it whereas others are. But I enjoy this stuff as much as say techno music - none of it bears any resemblence to the music I like, which is northern soul.

Get a successful formula then milk it for 20 years...awful
  22. Pete S replied to a post in a topic in Look At Your Box
Having said that, all these records just sound the same to me so I'll never like any of them so I should stop listening to them.
  23. Pete S replied to a post in a topic in Look At Your Box
I've never analized his vocal, it's a bostin' northern soul record and thats all thats important to me, whereas that crossover thing is just a non-event, dull and unmemorable
  24. Pete S replied to a post in a topic in Look At Your Box
The bass line is fantastic, the rest of it sound slike the B side of a Real Thing record, there must be hundreds of records that sound just like this, I wouldn't pay 10p for it. No actually I would, then sell it to some mug.
